Sorry for two big uploads one after the other (I got a lot done, sue me). Anyway, a bunch of refs later (a Roy Swanson pic for the pose, old gun images, a map of Transylvania for the BG, and a Compass Rose pulled from an online catalog, and some blood splatters I made using acrylic paint) and we have my own personal dedication to a super bad-ass Bon Jovi song. I realize making pieces based on music is kind of cliche but I try to choose things that no one else would. # no Linkin Park or Evanescence titles. Ever. You lose all credibility the second you title a piece "Crawling" or "My Immortal". So go listen to some Bon Jovi, it's good for you I swear; or belt it out in Rock Band.
Damn this beats pin-ups, you guys have no idea how good it feels to be out of that shtick.
Also a couple people told me to make this available as a print so I am. ONLY because they told me to. It's available off of my DA page: http://boneitis.deviantart.com/art/.....Alive-76402079

For something so simple, that background works extremely well. How'd you get those blood spatters to look like that? I know you said they were done using acrylic paint, but this looks done mostly digitally. Acrylic paint tool?
Does that mummy-bird-thing have exhaust pipes coming out of the back of its head?
It's always nice to see a character with a plain old brown cloak or long coat. And revolvers are always good. Is that a really huge gun, or just a small person holding it?

Wow, what a comment! Thank you so much! I'll answer the questions in order:
-The blood splatters were made by putting globs of cadmium red paint on a cheap-o paint brush and flicking it against some regular typing paper. I then scanned it in to my computer (after it had dried completely), brought it up in Painter IX, formatted it to my image, set it on its own layer, erased away the parts I didn't want, and then turned the opacity way down. No digital brush work in that case.
-The strange mount does indeed have exhaust pipes, I should elaborate on that concept...
-Sei is kind of small, but it's just a huge effing gun, Sam and Max style.

No problem. I know what it can be like to want comments that relate to the composition of a piece or how it was done or such things.
That was my guess on the only other way it might have been done, that or you happened to have an old map of Transylvania you didn't mind getting some paint on.
Interesting mount concepts are always a good thing, particularly within this fandom where having things like regular horses as mounts next to anthro horses would just be odd.

Now I've got a picture of a horse anthro riding a regular horse, both of them with the exact same face and expressions, and a title across it "The problem of furry non-motor transportation". or better yet, so they were standing so it was hard to tell which head was on which body, so as to break people's brains.
