The idea and the gift itself is really sweet.

But unfortunately, your aspect of "courage" or "protection" is NOT visible here, at all. It occurs to me, that Alice just saw something scary... or she forgot her car keys somewhere at home... and Orion shouts "Your loss, tough luck!" to her. So, pretty rude of him! XD
Sorry, but it really doesn't appear the way YOU wanted it to appear.
Despite of some nasty flaws in anatomy and proportion (Orion's waist and Alice's boots and hands!!), there is NO real connection here. Not at all. Both character stand apart from each other - they do NOT really have any kind of connection here!

As you can see, REPTILE and KYLE are touching each other in many ways here... this is what I call "connection".

Even if they do NOT touch each other directly, they are overlapping each other AND looking at the SAME DIRECTION!!! This is also a connection!


I can appreciate the thought and the GIFT here. It surely is a nice gift to a friend.

But I have to be serious and honest with you: the artwork failed in EXPRESSION!!
It is really NOT clear, what you wanted to show here... and without the describtion, I would have NEVER guessed.

I haven't got an accurate (and positive) title about the two characters, Orion and Alice, interacting with their expression, so I picked "Courage" anyway with a short description. You're talking about the connection, huh? So they should relate to whatever their action or condition has.
I will keep it in my mind for next artworks. Thank you. :)

They ARE NOT even interacting with expressions here, Kevin. They just... stand there. Each on their own. Alice is a bit scared, looking forward into the emptyness... Orion is standing there and looking less interested somewhere else.
You know... if Alice would've been placed at the LEFT side of the artwork, the whole expression would've been stronger.
Alice left... and Orion right... sure, he would show her his back somehow... but this would also be a slight expression of "protection" - such as: "Nothing will get through ME to harm YOU! I'm like a moutnain, standing tall for you!"
