It would seem that the thing has a magically indefinite length to spare, seeing as how its mouth stitching has not become the least bit strained or damaged from the constant tugging. But such a question is trivial compared to the pain.

Okay, THIS was fun to do! An alternate story I have in my head is that this is how they start turning a meat sack (normal person) into a stitcher (rag doll); sew up the eyes so you can't see your old life and make it easier to put on the button eyes, stuff cotton in your ears to be unable to hear the voices calling you home, and sew your mouth shut so you can't cry for help. I have a whole bunch of head cannon growing from this, but I'll get into it another time.
