Finally, we have the flight engineer's position, with the actual flight engineer himself.
One thing that immediately draws your attention, are the throttle levers. In the B-29, the flight engineer not only starts up the engines, but adjusts the engine throttles as well. And this is on top of all the usual goings on within this position.
It's safe to say that the B-29, and its unlicensed counterpart, the Tu-4, are the only aircraft in the world where the pilots do not have direct control of the engine throttles.
