these huge gross things are actually harmless herbivores. they start to ooze black poisonous sludge from mouth, nose and gills when they feel threatened, nervous or really excited. Males are more frilly and colorful than females.

Gross? I think this guy's cute as a bug I like that these guys are herbivores, and it's neat how you've given thought to their biology.

Additionally, I love this design. He has a real eel-ish look about him... Is he amphibious, or does he just swim?
