My very first acrylic painting. I have been working on this the last two days, under the watchful eye of
art-fromthe-heart . She's taught me some basics to get up and going. Yep, I'm taking on acrylics! Only doing animals right now until i can get a better hang of it, and understand more. Blending, layering, texture, lighting, color usage....dear Lord there is a LOT more to this then I thought!
This painting is a 5x7 on canvas. The subject is Jomo, the male silver back gorilla at the Cincinnati zoo. I took the photo (among hundreds of others) for my artistic references just like this. And boy am I glad I did!
Enjoy! I'm pretty proud of it to be frank, but I definitely need to practice.
