It shouldn't hurt at all. How old are your piercings and how big a jump are you making for each gauge?

The ones I started with are 3 yrs old and in 2 days I went from 16 to 12 but it didn't hurt putting them in its just the after math where in like ow lol

You should still take it slow and wait at least two weeks before going from a 16 to a 14, and another two week before going from that 14 to a 12. Some people say you would wait months, but if you're anything like me, you may not want to wait that long.
