I was cooking a pot of goulash (its a kinda of stew) today and figured I'd give the glass pot lid a rinse & dry before putting it on top of the pot to let it simmer.
Apparently that was a mistake*, as a few minutes later I hear a loud POP from the other room, only to find the glass had given out from pressure and was "intact' but shattered to shit. Like an idiot I went to grab the handle at the center of the lid which just collapsed the whole thing into my stew.
*- I can only assume that rinsing the glass cooled enough that when it started to heat up from the steam it caused the whole thing crack from expansion stress.
Just the final topping on a crummy week, huh?
