Ive actually beaten quite a few STI's in my cobalt before as well as SRT's but i believe THAT SRT is a stage 3? If i remember hearing that right. But those FOCUS ST's aint no slouches either. They all have pretty comparable power but yeah the STI probably would have fastest 1/4 mile time .....but from a roll i eat em every time =P.
Nothing in the picture is really a "buy it because of its quarter mile" car. I know the guy that owns the STI, I own the yellow ST. The STI on paper is slightly faster (Not $11,000 faster) but to be honest unless the road is wet you do not notice it. The focus actually is quicker around a corner then the STI with both cars set up to have the stock suspension geometry, but I have heard a trip to a shop with some better numbers puts the STI back on pace. It really just boils down to if you need 4 wheel drive or not because that's all you are paying extra for with the STI.
I never said quarter mile cars... quarter mile drag racing is a bit boring to me (well, compared to say, driving a nice stretch of twisty roads) the ST's are really nice cars, and I'll give Ford major props for it (Still wish they had brought over the 08 RS however) but at the end of the day, I think I'd prefer having AWD (plus the boxer noise is amazing, but I'm biased there since I own a Subaru myself) I still believe that Ford should atleast offer an AWD version of the ST.
