Everything I like about your style has been integrated into this, from the sketchy, yet instantly recognizable and distinct lines to the cel-shading-esqe application of a wide range of lighting tones.
In all honesty, I never would have minded had you not done anything. It’s always a treat seeing any of your work, so I was knocked for six when I saw this in the inbox. I was staring at the screen like =’D!!! for at least a whole minute, seriously. I like the subtle changes you’ve made to the clothes. The diamond cufflinks (?) and tie will definitely become part of, if not *the* main design aspect. It’s really neat seeing a little twist, and it looks a little better than the current design. The tea/coffee mug was a pleasant surprise, as I wanted something like that to be another main “thing” about my character, but I don’t remember putting it on any references or anything. Was that a lucky guess, or did you happen to see something pointing towards my obsession with a daily cuppa in my gallery? Either way, so happy that got put in. <3 That and the background helps to give a generally calming atmosphere.
It’s interesting to see you take on human faces, even though the ones you’ve done up until now have been a pleasant cartoonish anthro combination that’s not too far removed from human. I seem to look very cool and collected, there. This brings me back to your shading style; all the facial contours are very well defined, and you’d no doubt be able to achieve a realistic result without lines.
There’s a strong CD cover appearance to this, which is awesome, and I’m not just saying that because I’ve done a few as well. If I ever did make a music CD, nondescript mashing of piano keys and flaky strumming on a guitar would probably form the bulk of the content. ;_; I really can’t thank you enough for this.
