...and here is my final entrant for the pool - the estranged daughter of San Jose Thrust head coach Dimi Kabat! But they aren't seeing eye to eye....
Despite Dimi Kabat's (Grey Squirrel, Coach, SJT) impact in the Thrust this season, you won't hear him talking much about his daughter. The thing is, his daughter is now attempting to enter the draft and join her father in America. Her father doesn't talk to her because of falling into the what he feels to be in the wrong crowd and he also didn't want professional sport for his girl. Beyond the studious and careful planning on the court, there lies a strict parent who cannot forgive his daughters defiance of his orders.
Growing up, Kabat wanted to keep his analytics of basketball to himself, but his young daughter fell in love with the game in a way he knew he couldn't - passion for the game clouds vision and judgement. His statistical mind couldn't really allow himself to open up to his daughter on basketball - and of course what you want to know more about but cannot hear about only makes you want to know it more. However, this was at a time more innocent, a time when the squirrel couldn't ever forsee the young grey pursuing sport - especially when all the females in the family stood so short - 5'2, 5'3.
However, concern turned to panic as the young squirrel grew to be 5' 11'' and incredibly broad, and a natural boon for sport began. Her father attempted to arrange for her to go to a top school in Hungary, but she defied him to attend the Academy in Pajaro Fuego. Her father however only saw dissappointment down the road for her daughter and was furious at her decision. This fury only greatened as it was discovered that she had been hanging with a convicted criminal in Elisa Lawless in the academy and forming a strong connecton and friendship - which led to Dimi Kabat switching teams in Spain to a tea, away in Madrid, and that was the last time he spoke to his daughter - he couldn't watch her fail and destroy herself.
The problem is....shes very much a success.
The squirrel guard has a natural ability in her low centre of gravity and an enormous amount of strength for her size, in fact her biceps would shame most men (no doubt encouarged by Lawless) and she has no fear and tenacity on the court - and its all driven by one passion - the passion to succeed for her father and prove that a fiery passionate love of the game can also succeed.
The standard at the Pajaro Fuego Academy is high as the juniors must muscle their way in to play with seniors to secure game time, despite the academys faith in youth. Of the four candidates put forward at the school in Madrid, Kabat is the one who has played the least games, but also plays in the position where most coaches may be willing to take a risk on a junior. Her dribbling is immense making her extremely hard to tackle, and she almost turtles the court in a crouched position meaning shes very good at holding onto the ball and making space for others.
