...yeah yeah, diverting from commissions but this one was screaming to get out and I made a very quick scribble of it. My lioness/gryphoness Oya is the type of character that pisses people off...she's brash, harsh, biting, spiteful, likes to get under people's skin, and comes off as the badass takes-care-of-herself loner that doesn't need anyone. But really, that mask just covers her own insecurities, unhappiness, and loneliness. But she doesn't open up to others...she keeps it to herself...usually. Letting someone else in just means they have ammo to use against her, so she bears the burden alone. She's caught in another moment of solitude, it would seem, and she's let down her guard.
This character has come to represent a lot to me in the short time that I have had her...I think I'll leave it at that.

Yeah. XD I mean I personally am an open book and always have been. I sometimes bear my own burdens...but that tends to hurt me more than it does heal me, so I've become the "blurt it out and deal with it here and now" type. XD But Oya...she has come to represent certain feelings to me. She's been betrayed by so many times in her RP life and has kinda come to represent those feelings to me in real life. Hurt, anger, pain, sadness, fear, self-consciousness.
But I was reflecting on some things today and this image of her came to mind based on those thoughts. So many people put on masks to the world, but behind closed doors, they're such utterly different people. You never get to know who they truly are because they fear you might hurt them if they care too much. My heart goes out to people like this, especially since their true selves are usually much more beautiful than the masks are.
