The customer for this said he got a kick out of women smoking and wanted a drawing of someone elegantly dressed, smoking from a long cigarette holder. The art I sold him was more or less like thie piece, except that when I redid it for myself I put in further detail, mainly in the view out the window.
You can see the lower part of Tangel going by, walking a dog. There's a parked car that looks rather like a BMW Z3, but could be generic. Judging from the backwards Chinese painted on the window, this could well be The China Seas, a chop suey place in Willow Run.
The figure in the portrait is a partially human Mesuldan. Although they come from off-planet, they claim they are the original human species and we the knock off. The balance of DNA evidence would have it otherwise, but nobody can explain how our genetic relatives ever got off planet in pre-history.

Oh yes. In fact, the history behind Willow Run is different enough from reality that there was greater penetration of Chinese labour into North America in the 19th. century than really happened. It was common for small Chinese communities to spring up as far east as the Ohio valley, and Willow Run had its own. One of two of the old houses are listed by the local historical society as being certified opium dens even... though one of them is now a book store on the ground floor.
A very nice piece with some lovely balance in it. I like how the focus is drawn down her body with the use of the cigarette tube. I'd always wondered what kind of creature she was when I got a hold of this image from F-Chan. Interesting use of extraterrestrial humans. I always thought it would be cool for humans to run into dinosaurian ancestors who escaped the extinction in their space ships. Either way, very lovely piece.
Last question I have, I guess is: do you spell it Tangel or Tengel?
