Eddie Cheever became the first owner driver to win the 500 since AJ Foyt in 1977. The team was contemplating closing its doors during the month of may...but Rachel's potatoe chips came on board to help ease their woes...the eventualy 500 winners prize of a couple of million helped too.

This is the first 500 I can remember every detail from...mostly because Eddy signed my cast at a local Kroger, and I was pulling for him. I was 5 at the time. I Like to think of myself as his lucky charm lol.
