Comish - I Will Carry Your Heart
~~~
Cell-shaded (turned slightly soft-shaded) comish for
vampirekat2000 for an early Mother's Day gift.
I love the expression on this - she looks so calm and happy.
Because I can't remember the last time I drew a 'normal' bird and didn't want it to look like crap, hehe.
Refs I used:
http://www.twistedtree.org.uk/Tigers_Eye_2.JPG For the stone colours
http://static.vecteezy.com/system/r.....sign-maker.jpg Just to get an idea of the kind of pose I wanted, looked at these and lots of pics. Didn't want a standard 'side flying' pose, wanted to show more wing.
http://www.exposureguide.com/images.....g-birds-1e.jpg To get the basic body proportions in mind
http://www.mylifesatrip.com/wp-cont.....ing-bird-1.jpg Definitely wanted a pose like this, but not quite as flat - helped with the body, though.
http://stuffpoint.com/beautiful-bir.....lying-picture/ Saw this one and freaking fell in love. Had to adjust it for the right bird, though.
http://farm1.static.flickr.com/146/.....5d01f1c07d.jpg Different wings/pose, but helped with the body and that fanned tail
http://www.janetemarshall.co.nz/kid.....rds%20tail.jpg This is also just a really good resource to see the feathers of the tail clearly
Ended up colouring the line-art since I love doing the line-art really detailed, and some gradient hues on the highlights. Highlights added because I didn't want the bird to be...grey, for the sake of cell shading. And black birds are shiny anyway.
Scapular feathers are so silly.
Commissions are still open~
Anyway, thanks Kat, I hope you like it~
