Map of the Kagenuma basin, home of the Kagenuma tribe nezumi. The large swampy area is surrounded by mountain ranges of volcanic origin, which suggest that the whole area is actually a caldera of an enormous ancient volcano. There is however also an unusual concentration of wyrdstone deposits so the crater might be a remnant of a wyrdstone meteor impact. The north-western part of Kagenuma swamp is a grassy wetland full of marshes, streams and small lakes, nezumi call this area the "Depths". The eastern part called "Shallows" consists of fens and heathlands and the southern "Sunken forest" is made of bogs, swamps and carrs which gradually turn into a woodland area known as "Misty forest". The main nezumi settlement lies on a distinct promontory in the south-western part of the swamp. The western mountain range is rich in obsidian, frequently used by the nezumi for ritual purposes, it is also the home of the kitsune-bi-oni, ancestors of the hellfoxes employed by nezumi as war-mounts. This range is therefore called "Ridge of the mountain spirits". The northern range is currently held by dwarves of Kraz Khadar, who call it the "Dragon's jaw". The eastern range is teeming with greenskins. Since no one around is really sure about advanced greenskin linguistics, it remains unknown whether they actually named these mountains. Most nezumi (and probably dwarves as well) therefore refer to this range either as "What?" (corrupted form of WAAAGH!) or as "Goblin Gibberish". This has led to some confusion among the occasional travellers asking for directions. Also, the imperial cartographers mapping this area, who often employ local terms without actually understanding their meaning, have become objects of ridicule by fellow ethnographers. Small scale skirmishes are common throughout the whole region but a decisive battle that would shift the balance of powers is yet to be seen.
(Note: Kagenuma is set into an alternate Warhammer setting influenced by the WotC portrayal of Nezumi in M:TG and L5R. The Kagenuma nezumi can be considered a small and isolated offshoot tribe of clan Eshin, whose culture was even more influenced by those of Cathay and Nippon)
