*nods* Yeah. Some are more obvious, some less... Some outright funny -- like, the Irish fire festivals of St. Brigitte, which remained essentially the same. Funny there is the fact that said Brigitte was not a human but a pagan goddess. Didn't stop them from making her a saint. Ireland was generally a funny place in respect to baptism :)

oh yes, easter. both egg and the bunny most possibly stem from ancient germanic symbolism, as do many holidays.
in southern germany many carneval traditions are about as old as the roman empire, and not even christianisation managed to remove them from folklore. up the alps mountains some very ancient and feral figures are part of rituals to remove ill-willing spirits of winter from everyday life... some of them are so nasty you could get beaten up by them wearing their costumes if they have a mind! apparently these crude figures change the wearer, too.

In Russia and other Slavic countries, it's the similar ways. Some things survived almost intact, others were assimilated, some completely vanished...
All the main celebrations other than Christmas, though, are almost completely from the Slavic ways. I don't say "pagan" here because the religions of old were not exactly pagan, either.
In that journal, though, I am more amused by how the names for all the holidays merging into today's Easter were almost the same way before the cultures collided.

She is 9 here, but her carapace is turning white as she ages, so if she needs to be older than 9, just make the pink a bit more lighter!
