It's Lil' Beau and Lil' SleepyBunny.
Lil' Beau is... amused by this new kid at the arcade. Maybe he should challenge him to a game and show him who the REAL game master is around here...
...NAHHHH, he's having too much fun, he won't put him in his place just yet.
I miss arcades. :'(
I MISS PLAYING MULTIPLAYER GAMES IN THE SAME ROOM AS MY FRIENDS. <:'(
I miss having FRIENDS. :P

You can still find a few of them, but they're so local and hard to find.
I'm getting old B&W cartoon vibes from Beau (also a slight Animaniacs one, but I think that's just a side effect of the former), very cool!
Also oh my gosh I loved that game as a kid, there was an arcade version??? Or did you just put a classic NES game onto an Arcade system? XD

As Beau alluded it was an arcade game originally.
I never saw it in arcades, but I loved the NES version. Which seemed as good as the quarter munching version to me.
These days there is a nice remake called Bubble Bobble Neo for the Xbox 360 (also named Bubble Bobble Plus! for the Wii)

The arcade console and the lil' Beau remind me of Spirou/Kid Paddle. Also, at least in my area, arcades are making somewhat of a comeback. They don't usually exist on their own, but there has been in increase in bars and game stores that have arcade consoles as one of the main attractions. Here in Seattle there is an annual pinball event where people bring all kinds of pinball and classic arcade events together for a weekend. The culture is still alive, you just have to know where to look.
They're all the rage in Japan still. Seriously Arcades are alive an well in that country and they go to extremes with many of the games there, like one arcade where you sit inside a cockpit mockup of a mech and perform in giant robot fights. They still have all the stuff you know from arcades but an arcade game where you climb in a mecha cockpit mock up, and have giant robot battles is pretty extreme in terms of arcade.
Don't suppose you live anywhere near Portland, OR and the legendary Ground Kontrol... http://groundkontrol.com/ Might be worth a pilgrimage!
Gosh, Bust a Move and Bubble Bobble were probably my favourite arcade games. The Pizza Hut I used to go to all the time had Bust a Move, and I would always beat whoever had the highest score on the machine, and sometimes I would end up beating my own score! Then some jerk decided to tip the machine over and break it after getting angry at it. :C
Haven't seen it anywhere else since then, either. Wish I had the money to purchase a Neo Geo cabinet so I could play that and Metal Slug.

My favorite was and always will be Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arcade. Couldn't get enough of those guys. Favorite character was Raph but Donatello always had the longest reach and therefore best attack. Oh well, the old arcade is now a pawn shop and there's been no other arcade in the area so i'm at a loss as well.
Used to have an arcade in Grapevine Mills Mall but It went out of business due to lack of customers. It wasnt a full four stories but these four large monitors stack on top of one another and they had these chairs on rails. Once you got enough points the chair would literally move up to the next level. It was you up against 3 other players so whoever got to the top and beat the boss was declared the winner. But you had to be careful, there were people gunning for your spot and if you got hurt or sabotaged by the other players with the in game items they shoot then you drop a level. It was so much fun.

Last time i was in an arcade, i walked into Aladdin's Palace to play Sniper Scope 2. As usual, there was no adult in sight or at the counter. And two teenagers were shoving this little kid against the wall and telling him to turn out his pockets or they would take off his pants. They didnt see me walk up behind them OR slam their faces into the wall. Little kid thanked me, took off and i never went back there since....ahhhh...memories.

Get thee hie.
Sorry I had to bail on the slot, but time caught-up with me. Maybe you'll be up for more video game-inspired stuff soon? :)

You'd have thought that with the big tellies that split screen games would become better, but oddly enough they didn't, they became worse because the proportions never changed and they tried to fit too much on each screen.
Oh and watch out for the creepy guy offering to show you a puppy Beau :)

Unfortunately I wasn't able to play hardly any arcade games at all when I was a kid, mainly because they are pretty far in my area. You would have to leave the county to find a good one. Closest thing to an arcade was at a skating rink, but when your dad paid money for you to skate, that's what you did almost all the time. Haven't been there in years though. Only games I can think of playing on Arcades are Cruis'n World, California Rush, DDR (Just one version), and Sonic the Fighters, and that was from last year till now. XP
Fortunately some restaurants and other buildings have an arcade machine or two lying around.

Land Of Oz
Detour
Aladdin's Castle
These were the places of my childhood and youth. Such wonderful times then and there. Land Of Oz, being totally 70s, was done up in geometric mirrors and black and metallic grey, with funky little chrome bubble chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. it was also in a cubbyhole of a space in the mall. The original Aladdin's Castle was done up like a set from The Last Starfighter, all spaceship-y with lots of faux octogonical doorways and arches and lots of red and yellow filters on the commercial lighting in the suspended ceiling. Detour was a chain owed by a local family of the same name (I kid you not) and the arcades had a road-construction theme with all kinds of highway signage on the walls. Detour also had the brightest atmosphere of the three, with the original Aladdin's Castle having the darkest.
And, as if you need to tell me about the things I loved being "corrupted beyond any recognition". Can you say "Star Wars Special Edition"? And then we have Sirius Satellite Radio which insists on referring to 80s New Wave music as "classic alternative'. NO IT ISN'T!!!

I miss my arcade. Best job I ever had.
Somehow gathering four people to run a full game of Ninja Turtles or X-Men, watching in amazement at the kids who could drop like five bucks and make it through to the end of Street Fighter or Soul Blade, watching as my boss would run tokens through the racing game to "test" the machine when the owner wasn't around... good times. = )
A Damn fine pic, indeed.

I used to feel the same way, that is until I discovered that arcades are alive and well in Chicago. Mainly the galloping ghost, $15 cover charge free to play classic and modern arcades in an awesome dingy cramped nostalgic inducing location. It's like something out of my dreams and every time I see my brother when I visit we hit the arcade!
If you're ever in Chicago screw that giant silver lima bean or those spitting face fountain. Head straight to the galloping ghost.

It never ceases to amaze me how many little kids are always there.

You aren't playing third strike right unless you're at the arcade, smell smoke, and see a knife just inside your peripheral vision.
Wonder if anyone will get that reference?
Anyhoo I miss arcades too. And while I can't say online play isn't so bad because it allows me to play against friends I never would otherwise the arcade is something diffrent entirely. And sadly while there is an arcade in town it's fairly tough to get to >.<
