Ancient Nezumi shaman
Shamans tend to be a colourful lot, so I tried to use some of the old coloured pencils that keep lying around at my place and collect dust most of the time (some of them are even older than me). But the results are not as good as I hoped. I never used coloured pencils much and my inexperience and insecurity shows itself quite strongly. Some places are too contrasting while others appear too flat and shallow, despite my attempts to follow the rule of "where brute force is not enough, more brute force is required" as much as I dared. Also, each of the pencils reacted in a different way on preassure and many of them really didn't get along with my sharpener. The scanner wasn't helpful either and the resulting PS adjusted image makes some of the yellow-red hues more vivid than they really are, though it catches the lack of depth quite precisely. Oh well, I guess equipment really matters, even if it's just pencils... and practice of course

It's about 50/50, since Kagenuma Nezumi are supposed to be strongly influenced by Nipponese culture (which in turn are strongly influenced by Cathay), I thought they should use similar writing systems as do the Japanese in our world, just a bit different. So instead of modern standard kanji/hanzi characters I use different ones that are based on older forms of these before they were unified (mostly seal script, but also scripts used on bronzes and oracle bones). However, while Japanese kana is ultimately derived from simplified hanzi characters, the "Nezumi Kana" (on the bone plate hanging from the shield and on the rim of the large bronze disc) is made up entirely, except for a few characters that resemble original warhammer skaven runes, but I tried to make them look stylisticaly consistent. So yes, they actually DO mean something.
Also, it's rather a status than a name. A status of power, honour, privilege and general awesomeness. Now bow before my glorious presence and get me some bacon.
