I was just looking at older mewtwo's he never had a chest horn it was either flat, a space, or smooth never a bump there, the newer mewtwo has this bump and its form change has 2 of them going down its chest and stomach. So its a totally different mewtwo

The official art has always had Mewtwo with the third segment on the chest, them not drawing it was a mistake, not intentional.

Our Mewtwo will still probably be male but I am most pleased to see the Japanese Mewtwo is now female.

the movie, anime, and manga mewtwo are all missing this spike, it's just 2 armor chest parts. He is voiced by a male so he's thought to be male. Why would they forget the chest piece in both anime, movie, and manga? Then again this is also the biggest change of mewtwo that happen could just be the art style.

Then comes the spike on the chest and suddenly is now voiced by a female in japan. This mewtwo also seems more female like its much rounder and the eyes changed from being angry triangles to rounded ends.

could just be art style changes but how many mewtwo's do we know? according to these pics there is 4 different mewtwos rounded, extra plate, none, and spiked. So who's to say mewtwo without his spike is a male and with the spike is a female? What if the spike just changes their voice? Or is used to tell the difference in one another? Also the new mewtwo's chest plate is longer its totally different then all the other mewtwo's. This is all theory and only Nintendo knows the truth for now. But still the fact remains old mewtwo is male, and new mewtwo is female in voices at least ^^

You realize like half of them have the middle chest segment right? Lol, it's just different artist renditions and evolution of the design. If you remember at first in the games Pikachu looked considerably different and so did Mewtwo. (Not to mention how the human characters' designs have changed. We don't assume it's a totally new Ash.)

I highly doubt it's a totally different Mewtwo, I would bet money on it easily; but even assuming it IS a different Mewtwo, the changes between genders wouldn't be things that you could toss up to different artist/studio renditions. (Remember how different characters in DBZ could look depending on what studio was producing them?) They would be clearly defined like Pikachu's tail being shaped like a heart at the end. That detail is far too vague to mean anything, you have a far better case arguing that it's a different Mewtwo because of voice alone.

That's odd cause I remember the official art of mewtwo being him with a spoon so they did redraw him. I just never saw the spike before until gen 5 cause even his sprite has it, I knew he had the chest part from the cards and first manga but then I noticed in the first movie it was gone then in pokemon adventures its also missing but, now he or she has it in the new movie but more pike like then round. The offical art could close this but... there is something that just does not settle.

This is what puzzles me..
Masachika Ichimura is the japan voice actor of mewtwo and also video game mewtwo in melee, hes not dead and I believe is still voice acting.. so why did they not use his voice again or another male actor? Unless it is the same mewtwo but something happen to him and caused this new form and voice change. Or simply its another mewtwo. The anime shows their is always more then 1 legendary and legendary pokemon also have genders lugia having a baby, people having the legendary birds on the show and shiny versions of legendary pokemon exist as well. Zoroark's movie showed this to be true. But then this mewtwo also remembers flash backs of our pokemon the first movie mewtwo. I think thats kinda odd given its now a female voice but remembers Masachika Ichimura's mewtwo's memories. Unless it was just remembering how it was created and not pokmeon the first movie Mewtwo.

It could also be a new mewtwo and to not confuse people with old mewtwo they redrew him for this movie and gave it a female voice instead.
like in the first movie cloned pokemon looked different. There is also sparky the pikachu who has extra hair so people would not confuse it for Ash's pikachu.

so pretty much we end up with nothing and this movie will probably just give us more questions then answers and is just a movie they thought would be neat and to give newer kids that same feel older kids had of mewtwo in the first movie only this time with a new form and is a good guy... er girl? but still the ultimate question is.. is this the same mewtwo or is it a new mewtwo that happens to have a female voice. We will never know until the movie or more details come out.

The official art of Mewtwo never had a spoon, that's from the comics. The middle segment has been around since before Gen5. (The gen5 sprite is the same as Gen4.) That image is from earlier and the earlier sprites have it as well. (Not to mention Melee.) As I said before you have a better argument if you just go with the voice actors. Mewtwo was created, he's not a normal legendary like the others and even though they dropped the ball by making the normal legendaries have a species like Lugia, I don't think they'd do the same with Mewtwo. It's entirely possible but as I said your argument is much better with the VA only--the chest segment varies due to differing studios and evolution of his design. If it is a different Mewtwo this very small detail has absolutely no baring on it whatsoever. It's been over 10 years since Mewtwo was introduced, his design has changed as to be expected. You're thinking too much on this tiny detail that has nothing to do with it being a different one. The voice is the only evidence that says it might be a second.

I'm not sure how much clearer I can explain it, lol. It's design difference, the male/female counterparts have more distinguished traits to seperate them. Even if it is a second Mewtwo that will have NO relevance on it at all.

heh yeah maybe XD we all know at least in this anime their is only 1 mewtwo (besides the shiny cause now shiny exists in the anime) and legendary dont have genders they said that right on the first movie. So mewtwo is not a male or female but when you give a voice to something you should keep it the same or try to at least give it the same gender voice. But what they found was if they give the main pokemon a female voice it gives that pokemon more fans. They are not trying to please older fans at all this is strictly for newer kids cause in the new game coming out past pokemon will also be in there. Newer kids most likely have only played the DS versions of the game so they would not know anything about mewtwo other then they found him in a cave. (the island that mewtwo was born on is also gone in the DS versions so newer kids cant learn anything about mewtwo.) its pretty much saying... hey this is the old mewtwo but do to newer kids we felt we needed to change him up a bit cause we like money XD

A new group of mostly females are now in charge of the pokemon movies so they kinda dont make any since anymore... like the last movie with keldeo. They had an interview with the person who worked and help make the first movie.

He told them this is not the same mewtwo he worked with, its much different and he is not working on this mewtwo movie nor is anyone who did the first movie, turns out there is no males in charge of pokemon anime/movies anymore everyone is female. So what ever these new people decide to do, it could mean we get a female mewtwo outside of japan... or they give mewtwo a male voice actor and try to stick with the past mewtwo for english.

the artwork is much different as well one is digital and the other is drew by hand. Mewtwo looks better drew by hand, at least if they are going for a male cause the new one looks very feminine to me, looks softer, rounder body, softer looking eyes. He's right this is not the same mewtwo pokemon did in the first movie.

we did not get the Pokémon the Movie: Kyurem vs. the Sword of Justice... until Decemember after it was released on july 14 as well, which was kinda a lame movie... it made no since and was just about 1 pokemon having an alter form from a move. How did kyurem get the powers to become black and white kyurem? Why was this movie even a movie?

the kalos one is female and can mega evolve into Y mode

the kanto one is male and can mega evolve into X mode

Heh. Sorta off topic but, I remember that every time Ash meets a past Pokémon, he STILL checks it in the pokedex. Like my favorite, Lucario. He had a freaking MOVIE with one, and he forgot the Sinnoh Lucario's, AND lost to Cameron's in the Unova League, but still checked the pokedex for Korrina's Lucario.

OG mewtwo lacking the 'chest bump' is not a big deal you should look into, it's a design 'mistake' so to say.
In some parts of the movie he has it, in others he doesn't.

HOWEVER

It has been confirmed that the new and OG mewteo are NOT the same person.
they were created by different labs and have different personalities, one has a male voice and one has a female voice, so I support the (probably factual) idea that these are their respective genders.

It just has nothing to do with the chest horn, it's there in the newer version because the art crew is definitely more refined and therefore probably followed the original design to a T.

mega mewtwo x has blue eyes and no chest bump, it appears muscular and more male like.

mega mewtwo y has pink eyes and gets 2 chest bumps, it appear more curvy and slender such as a female would.

besides that, I only have the first movie and the newest mewtwo movie to compare which everyone says is just an error on the first mewtwo.

why erase the chest bump on mega x... but give mega y 2?

hopefully if Nintendo ever does another mewtwo movie it will be the team rocket mewtwo and be displayed with no chest bump thus proving my idea was right.

mega mewtwo is a form that either mewtwo could have, no matter the gender, so I don't think this is what you should base your theory on.

X is a more fight-based mega evolution, Y is one with enhanced psychic powers.
Mewtwo has purple eyes, so the two evolutions that basically split it in two and enhance a certain part of it have blue+red eyes, which combined, makes purple.
Y is not more curvy, it's just smaller because it doesn't focus on physical strength.

I only wish they made another movie with OG Mewtwo, but I don't think it would happen, they already made two, so idk

I think in the early stages of mewtwos design they did not do the chest piece either to hard or just an error in the art then they started adding it on later after the redrawing of him. If you see different pics of mewtwo its funny seeing how the chest piece starts flat, rounded, then moves up to where it is today and how mewtwos legs keeps changing. ^^

I was kinda hoping there would be a difference in appearances for the mewtwo like they do with the male and female pokemon in the games. But I guess there is not :P

oh well, my question is... how can the female voiced mewtwo mega evolve without a megastone / megaring? does that mean their is a male voiced one that can also mega evolve without a stone/ring? Or does this movie not make any sense ^^;?

Personally I'd be much more content with two mewtwos, if the female one had her mega stage as a default - it DOES look more feminine due to it's smallness and it's tail/head looking kinda like long hair.
I don't like the fact that there are two completely identical mewtwos, because what are the odds that two separate labs would create the SAME looking pokemon, y'know?

Personally I am also not fond of the face that mewtwo even has mega evolutions - in the anime canon mewtwo is probably one of THE most powerful pokemon, it should have mega qualities to begin with sooo
i don't imagine OG mewtwo having that kind of ability already due to him being an older clone - the newer clone was created with more advanced technology so it probably has different abilities

also anime canon and game canon are two somewhat different things so what makes sense in the games oftentimes doesn't in the anime. I mean, would you REALLY believe that Ash would make it to the league with his team being mostly at first evolutions? would you REALLY believe a pikachu can take down a dragonite? lmao the anime canon lives in it's own world we shouldn't compare it with the games too much

so basically you cant make sense of any of this...

they even failed to tell why the awaken mewtwo can mega evolve when she pleases without a mega stone. Or why any of the anime pokemon can mega evolve without mega stones.

Even further confusion how can mewtwo even mega evolve, the mega stones are created by meteors from the dna of past pokemon. No mewtwo existed back when the cannon was used to caused mega evolution... so what in the world this makes zero sense :P

Then another artist stepped in and made the other form for mewtwo which they later used for shadow mewtwo in pokken. While mega mewtwo y is in smash bros.
