The last of my re-envisionings; the Aviaran race has got to be my LEAST favorite of all the ones I’ve designed. I suck at drawing anything avian-related; and it tends to show whenever I tried to do anything with these guys. I lucked out this time, especially with the female ones (whom I’ve re-imagined from their original insect-like appearance to be avian as well), but don’t expect me to be doing much with these guys in the future.
Also; I rushed the description because I want to get to work on more stuff right away. Being the last of the redesigns I can finally get to work on some of the other non-human species from other zones.

Species: Aviaran
Scientific Name: Filii Ventus (Children of the Wind (according to Google Translate))
Classification: Humanoid Avian, Spiritual Type
Elemental Affinity: Nature (Wind Element)
Alliance: Antagonistic Neutral
History: The Aviaran race is a very mysterious one: believed to be wind spirits that have taken on a physical, mortal form, these bird-like beings had long made their home in a flying city high in the skies of the Earthen Grove Zone called Aviaria.
Originally thought of as nothing more than myth, the first contact with the Aviarans came when they approached the surface world in the year 490A.D.; ten years before the start of the Great Inter-Zone Wars. The Aviarans showed no interest in making friends: instead insulting and irritating many of the different races to goad them into fighting with one another; further souring already unsteady relationships between the zones. In fact: it’s believed that the Aviaran’s were the ones responsible for starting the wars in the first place; something that they have never been able to live down.
Aside from this, the Aviarans have not exactly had large impacts on society at large throughout history: only really being a minor nuisance with their arrogant & prideful ways.
Habits: Aviarans spend most of their time in the skies over Super Randomness; rarely ever interacting with the inhabitants unless it’s to cause trouble. They are a very prideful & arrogant race: believing themselves the children of the Chaos Wind spirit Zephyr and they find the people whom they fly high over “beneath” them (pardon the pun; it was unintentional).
Male Aviarans are religious zealots whom believe that they are the link between the spirit world & the mortal world. They wear masks to hide their eyes as they believe that looking into them will reveal to all the secrets of their tribe. They are also incredibly fast in fight: able to achieve speeds up to near the speed of sound; though they have very little control of their movement going that fast.
Female Aviarans, however, are different. Though they are religious, they aren’t as into their beliefs as their male counterparts. They also tend to be a little bit less arrogant than the males, so they’re easier to get along with if the need arises. Instead, though; they are somewhat vain: primping & preening in the mirrors daily to keep up their self-declared beauty. They also are into the latest fashions; obsessing over the latest designs from the biggest names in the fashion world. Also, like their male counterparts they are very fast in the skies; however they are not able to achieve anywhere near the same level of speed in flight; though their maneuverability in-flight is much better.
All Aviarans are also skilled martial artists who study the art of “Aerial Takonju”: a form of martial arts that combines Wind elemental manipulation with various techniques borrowed from Tai-Chi, Tae Kwon Doe & Jujitsu. They love testing their merit and skills against strong opponents; however they also tend to go overboard sometimes & cause all kinds of trouble just to find worthy opponents.
Recommended Course of Action: While the female of the species is easier to get along with than the male, unless you’re looking to test your skills against their mastery of Areal Takonju; it’s better to avoid them if you can. It’s not worth the aggravation & having to deal with their arrogance.
