That is a really hot rivet, for sure. Even though the image is in black and white, it looks like the rivet is ready for forming. Hot riveting is rapidly becoming a lost art these days. During a recent visit to the Golden Gate bridge, I discussed the subject of why they chose to replace rivets with nuts and bolts with a Docent and he said that the restoration technicians prefer the nuts and bolts because they can be adjusted and tightened. Hmmmm... I believe someone has a secure job making sure the nuts and bolts are tight on the Bridge, eh?
