I immediately changed my Krogan Sentinel to yellow and orange upon seeing this.

I also got my Krogan Soldier black and white so I can also be Hollywood Hulk Krogan.

Isn't that thing behind their head a part of their armor? Or is it an actual part of their body construct? I mean, Grunt didn't end up having such a thing, but Wrex and certain other Krogan did, so that was why I was thinking that perhaps it was an optional part of their armor to prevent getting clubbed from behind.

Grunt actually does still have that "shell", it's just shorter than other krogans because he's a "child" compared to other ones. If you look at the unarmored statues of krogan on Tuchanka in ME2 or 3, they -do- still have that shell on their back!
