When I was designing this mask I was thinking vaguely of Mardi Gras, but when other people saw it they thought it looked like trusses. So I dyed it a nice red which I associate with big steel sculptures.
This was made from a small amount of nice leather I got from a friend who does some leatherworking, before I had a chance to get some of my own. So I'm not sure the exact weight of the leather, but I think it's somewhere around 8 oz. The leather is cut out with a laser cutter, then wet-formed to fit a face. It's stained with a water-based leather dye, then finished with a clear matte leather finish. I will put this up on Etsy once I get some pictures of it being worn, though if someone wants it before then I'll give it the draft price of $35.
