Didn't think i'd had enough rivets and things to make another cuff, but I did find a few nickel rivets and a nickel snap. Also had this little silver key laying around. Decided I'd put them together and make myself another cuff. This one is a bit smaller than the other.
Note to self.. Hand setting rivets in a straight line when they tend to displace when hammering is really hard to do...
1.5 inch wide band.
Hand tooled
Hand textured
Hand dyed (Black and metallic blue)
- Nickel rivets and snaps.
- Silver key.

This is really nice, I even like the other one you previously posted. Like this one better 'cause it has a key and it's blue :) About how long did it take you to make this one? And if you were to make some to sell, how much do you think you'll charge? I'd love to get a couple sometime. I love hand-crafted stuff ^_^ I'd take 'em anyday compared to the mass market stuff sold in the stores.
The holes for them are correctly aligned, but I can't for the life of me get the nickel rivets to set without tilting on their posts. The posts are short enough that they really shouldn't bend, but they bend every time. idkwtf. I didn't have this problem with the brass rivets. Same thickness of leather, same size posts. -shrug- Any ideas?
Absolutely. I had to do this with some of my leather riveted stuff. You take a pair of sharp wire cutters, and snip off a small bit of the post on the rivet, then you take a pair of jewelers pliers(or something similarly small) and "round" the pg as best you can. It doesn't have to be perfect, just shaped enough to fit in the cap.
Good rule of thumb with rivets like this is to cut it so it just barely pokes through the leather. When to tap it in place, it will compress the leather or whatever else you are doing and set just perfect. If you check out my leg band, you can see all my rivets are perfectly aligned...and i had to do this for each and every fucking one of them. It takes a lot of extra effort and time, but the look is very worth it. Especially on things you wear like cuffs and jackets.

Aye. When cutting the ends, make sure your cutters are very sharp. It will allow you, when you re-round/reshape the cut rivet to properly make it's sealing head into the cap. You can use anything from a pencil to a 410 steel punch to make the hollow part of the rivet round again. Long as the object you use has a coned, or pointy head, it can reshape the metal of your modified rivet.
The leather is the same thickness as the other cuff, and the brass ones of the same length do not offset themselves. Its only the nickel ones that seem to do this. I'm not sure what to think. The posts are short enough that they shouldn't be bending like that.
