Phones used to be phones. Now they are kinda of everything but a phone.

My phone does everything but call people...

If someone's in line like that, just go in front of them. They wont notice. And hey, if they make a fuss, tell them to pay attention.

I know how ya feel gen I've lost count of how many times I've been nearly bumped had to yell *beep beep* at work to get customers to notice I'm there or thought people were talking to me and said "yes?" and relized there on a bluetooth.

This is why my phone doesn't leave my pocket unless I get a call when I'm in public. There are some exceptions though.

Well that's a downer.

I only lose my sense of what's going on whenever I have both ear piece headphones on and listening to my MP3 player. I used to ride my bike with both on and knew what was going on even if I had the music on really loud, thankfully I've learned to stop doing this because it IS very dangerous and only have one head piece on and the other off in order to hear what people are saying to me.

But I often like to have both pieces on in order to lose sense of the world and let the music get rid of my built up stress and frustration.

People often ask me how I get by without a cellphone. The answer is, "very easily."

I so hate cellphones too o_O;; it is why I got the oldest you can get that has none of those features.. so if someone needs to get ahold of me they can. And I dont even stay on it but for like one minute at the most then hang up o_o I hate them o_o

I resisted getting a smart phone for the longest time, but sadly, all the time I spend on the road kind of required that I get one. Couldn't afford a laptop or tablet, so it was my best option.

I was one of the late bloomers when it came to cell phones. I think the biggest problem that I've seen with them is that people feel that now that they can communicate anytime and anywhere, that they MUST do so.

I agree these damn hing are peaces of crap and are getting worrse with people do just that crap.

It always drives me crazy when I see people driving and talking on their phones.

i have a cellphone for just that, to make calls..i can text but much rather call a person..

Cellphones are part of the tools of the devil, computers are as well.

*Sigh* Cell phones should come with a nail gun and shoots you in the goodies if you abuse it.

i'm one of those few folks with the common sense to stop somewhere out of the way in order to text.. oh, and actually not walk and stare at the phone at the same time..

I'm with you. I think cellphones have a place and people need to remember that. (Mine's place is in the glovebox of the car with a flat battery) You did miss out the one that drives me crazy though, when you're in the middle of a conversation with someone, their phone rings, so they answer it and start talking right in front of you.

"What does my texting while driving make you nervous?"

"We're in a company vehicle. If you get into an accident, that's your job."

Technology outpacing Society's ability to integrate it properly.

I don't even have a cell phone and even when I do get one, use of it will be minimal.

Cell Phones are pretty useful ..if.. they are used properly and people follow proper etiquette in public while using them. It's sad how the 'use properly' and 'follow proper etiquette' are quickly forgotten :(

Im the same way, I'd rather carry my iPod touch. At least Im connected where I need to be only.

Oh yeah. I can share your sentiments on this. I've had a few close calls on the road, too. Not to mention the public rudeness.

Cell phones are okay, but some folks just don't seem to good behavors with them.

This, is one of the three reasons why my phone ONLY makes calls and texts. Those Reasons Being:

A: I have to have a phone that texts because my sister likes to save a call by texting. Otherwise my phone wouldn't even do that.
B: I don't wanna be one of these people.
C: Addict that I am, I would play games and watch movies and listen to music...and the second I wanna use my phone as a PHONE..."Whaddaya MEAN low battery?".

Bluetooth people are the worst. I actually ignore people who have them. (course ONLY the people with hair long enough to hide it use the things) But people are idiots. And think that cars can go from 50 to 0 when they pass in front because the whole. 'supposed to stop for pedestrians' thing thats been told. Now I am one who simply doesn't do much with my phone. old one needed replacement. had to use speakerphone to hear you. Giant crack in screen from nerf disc. But my new one. I dislike the touch screen for it. From ipod touch to phone crap. Sorry, but I like being able to hit say... 911 in my pocket if I needed to.

Society is a bunch of idiots as is. Why do you think we had to implement bluetooth into half the new vehicles? Sure theres important calls you have to take. But texting can be done at a red light. And I sure don't have the money to fix up my entire car. I got insurance, but I am sure if someone hits me, and they don't stop for it. I WILL follow them home.

Phones are terrible. sure I understand they need to be on par with tablets and handhelds. I can understand being able to watch a movie or read a book/play a game while waiting. And music is always important when I go out for a bike ride. I just dislike that we have to do that all in the open and while in motion. You run into me, easy for them to turn and say watch where your walking. (I would throw their phone on the ground since where I live. you have to be too dumb to walk for that to happen) Going into traffic. Sounds more for the city. More like a car would do that because they couldn't wait two seconds or stop at the actual light. Or peoples hedges are so far out that in order to see the other side of the road, you are halfway into where traffic can hit you. People are reckless and fools. Why do you think new drivers pay about 200 bucks a month for car insurance? Why is medical bills or insurance super high? (I have medicaid but thats about it. Can't go to college full time and work full time. part time work is going to do.)

The worst is those 5 year olds with smartphones. They cant even shop without playing a game and such. Something like that is like 300 bucks! to a 5 year old! Sorry but give them a track phone. all they can do on it anyways and need. Why I never get back to people on my phone. I never hold it all the time. It is just kinda there. Maybe if I get in trouble on the road, I can get help. Or if I am making sure plans are good before I swing by someones house, I can. Since I can't just drive out to them and not hang out. Lot of wasted gas that way.)

So phones are inportant. But currently mostly detrimental to a society of fools. The pros outweigh the cons since if you need to kepe in contact or make an emergency call, it is great to do so. But society makes it not at all worth it. (although wait till many get the razer edge... that thing is like a portable computer. )

Texting can wait, i hate it when people text and drive at the same time. I caught my mom doing once and i gave her the "I catch you doing it again i'm walking home" look. No mater WHO you are WHERE you are, Don't text and drive. I will throw the Phone out the window if i catch ANY of you doing it.
