Let's be honest; of my beloved watchers I'm sure many of you came here for the dragon paws. Because you're all so fantastic (and because I haven't drawn enough paws lately anyway) here's a great big thanks to all of you to show my appreciation for the support and encouragement you've given me over the years! Have some paws.
I just passed my UK driving test this week so I'm feeling rather accomplished about that. In addition to driving on the left side of the road, roundabouts, and different road signs, a big thing that's been new to me since moving here is driving with a manual transmission. I'm still getting used to it, but slowly becoming more confident and appreciating the fun and control to be had with this funny wiggly stick in the middle of the car and having three pedals for only two feet. So, in addition to thanking all my wonderful watchers, this picture also celebrates my recognition by the government of a major world power that I Apparently Know What I Am Doing™ with such a transmission.
Stomp stomp, vroom vroom!

Yeah, Inverurie was a much gentler introduction! Haudagain is laid out just as normal and sensible as any textbook roundabout, it's just far too busy. And as such, full of people who are totally impatient or (as in two near-miss situations I've had already in my practising) totally not looking at all before launching themselves onto the roundabout right in front of you. :P
Very nice place to go for a lil drive! Busy isn't the word haha. Most of the time i go past there, i fear for my life most of the time ^^; Seems like when you take on that roundabout you have to take the bull by the horn, so to speak. Dont think i've been there and NOT heard someone use their horn in annoyance.
Oh, don't worry...I'll take you around Queen's Cross or Six Ways sometime soon...THEN you'll know a horrible roundabout.
Haudagain is just too busy, and I reckon would actually work ten times better (at least) if everyone wasn't so afraid of it and approaching it in blind panic. Lady in the white 2002 Fiesta who closed your eyes and put your foot down a fortnight ago, I'm looking at you...Plan ahead, be looking for your gap before you actually get to the roundabout and you should be fine.
There are few places in Aberdeen that are really *bad* to drive, just some which are annoying, and downright baffling the first few times you encounter them. City Centre is actually one of the easier places to handle I think, given how slow the general traffic flow is it tends to take a lot of the sting out of it because you're generally moving slow enough that it's not too hard to keep tabs on what's going on. George Street can be a bit of a pain because of the completely indiscriminate parking there, generally though if you're looking far enough ahead you shouldn't get into too much trouble. Nothing fundamentally wrong with much of the Network, it's just so, so over capacity in most places nowadays, especially Haudagain, Ellon Road and the City Centre in general. Not saying it doesn't have its bits of "Stupid" just like any city, but there are a lot worse out there!
Inverurie however, yeah that's rather a nicer place to take your test (speaking from experience!).

Yeah, as you say. Plenty of places are just a bit congested and you need to keep your wits about you, same as any city, but the network makes reasonable sense, at least by the UK's rather relaxed standards of road network sense-making. ;) It does come down to capacity though; just too many cars and too few places to go, so the major hubs like Haudagain just get mobbed.
Inverurie definitely seemed like a better place to learn all the same!

Hehe, yeah it's certainly true in reality that even with an automatic they teach you to use the same foot for both, as using both feet risks braking and accelerating at the same time which is bad for several reasons. That's how I've always driven, so I never actually used one foot for each pedal anyway, but I just think it's funny to complain about there being more controls then there are body parts to control the controls with!
And yes, I can guess. *pets* ^^

Thanks very much! I'm glad you like. ^^ I strive for giving my paws a 'cute' sorta look, and I was hoping the picture wouldn't be too dull overall due to the bland colours of the car's interior. At least the blue of the paws is there to make it jump out a bit!
Thanks much! ^^
I'm sure I've stumbled across one or two pictures involving pedal pumping on FA, but not too many. I think the ones I have seen have tended to involve micros being strapped to the pedals, too. ;) While I have no problem with that whatsoever, I figured it'd be fun (and more my own speed) to do a picture like this, involving pedals and paws just doing their own thing in a more day-to-day and less fetishy sense. Just for the sake of variety. ;)
Very glad that you like!

Hm yeah, the thought of something macro/micro related with pedal pumping is appealing. Someone must have drawn it before. :D
You did a very fine job with your 'version'. It makes you think about the fun and possibilities you can have in that situation. Or just admire the paws. Whatever ... superb picture! ^^
Lessee... the ones I've seen are this https://www.furaffinity.net/view/1744621/ and this https://www.furaffinity.net/view/507606/ . I figured that was another perk of keeping it 'natural' like this, it left the possibilities more open. ^^ Thanks again!
Thanks! Hehe, it's been interesting for me since I'm from the US originally, and have been driving for 14 years or so already, but all automatic. I am certainly getting to understand the appeal of driving manual though, and I think I'll like it more and more as it becomes second nature.
Now that's the real question, isn't it? My driving playlist is huge these days... depends on the mood, the car, and the character of the road. If it's a nice long highway cruise it's gotta be some classic rock tune that I can probably blame on you or Zelandeth... if I'm flinging something sporty around curvy roads in an exuberant manner, it might be more high-energy techno or trance. So to narrow things down, we'll say either AC/DC or Fredrik Miller. ^^
Hehe, true! The way I envisioned this as I drew it, the clutch pedal's just finished getting some attention, and my paw has just lifted off it after shifting up. The accelerator is being stepped on as I accelerate into the new gear. Hopefully I won't encounter anything that forces me to be -too- urgent on the brake pedal! I prefer my driving to be smooth and fluid when possible!
Hehe! It's hard to say, Zel and I have our cute little Peugeot 107 right now which will do me for a few years at least. Once I've gotten a good career-path job, maybe I'll be able to think about something new and sporty then... though as much as I love the Scirocco, I'm also starting to get awfully tempted by the GT86 as well. ^^
Hehe, thanks. ^^
Snapai is to blame for the icon. Yours is very cute too!

Yeah. I've held a US license and been driving there for over a decade, but in order to drive in the UK I had to go through the licensing process here, which included both a written theory test and a practical road test. I took private lessons with an instructor for a while to train up my abilities to pass the practical.
^.-.^ you're welcome, hey, sorry x.-.x
^.-.^ well, I had not commented before, these are not the pedals of your plane? ^.-.^
impressive is the nives detail, is a beautiful work, I could honestly say that it would be a photograph.
sorry about the comment a bit exaggerated ^.-.^

They're meant to be car pedals. ^^ When I drew this I was sort of celebrating having recently passed my UK driving test, and driving with a manual transmission was new to me. Lots more pedal work to deal with than driving an automatic! And no worries, I'm just really glad you like it!
Oh yes, now I get it, then congratulations. ^.-.^
o.-.o well, I think the automated system has its advantages, ^.-.^ but I prefer a manual system, I find it more interesting because the manual system, you can say that you are controlling everything, since the automated system is good, but misses the grace is not the same thing as driving a car with a manual system, I think the experience is unique.

Yeah, I can definitely understand the appeal of manual, the direct control is nice. My own preference I think is still for automatic, but then it's what I first learned and grew up on, so it's just down to preference. :)
And no, I don't think you were rude at all Nothing to worry about at all. :)

Oh yes, is true, ^.-.^
we adapt what we learn and we also accustoms us, well, for me, I feel easier with the manual system, you now have a better facility and would prefer a system of automatic control. well, it's like you said, it's a matter of preference. o.-.o Oh yes, sorry is that sometimes I think I'm a bit inconvenient. Thank's good to talk, you are welcome. ^.-.^

Hmmms. I suppose based on my experience now I'd say he's just put it in third, still accelerating out of a roundabout onto a dual carriageway or something, working his way up to 70 mph or so. At least on the car I'm driving now (a Peugeot 107), third gear is a pretty fun and agreeable one. Good range of power, slots in easier than second so it's easy to feel like a bit of a race driver shifting into third and stomping the accelerator. ^^
Variable answer to that question! When I was drawing the picture, the background footwell/door was meant to be based very loosely on a Toyota GT86, one of several potential future cars I'm lusting after. ;) So that's probably what it matches most closely. The car I actually drive these days is a Peugeot 107, a cute and occasionally feisty little black city car that manages to be more fun than you might expect. So take your pick I suppose! The GT86 I admit is probably the sexier choice, but you know what they say, if you can't be with the one you love, you love the one you're with. ;)
