Storm and Fire - WIP
The step by step progression of one of my commissions for Gilian.
I don't always do the Anatomy Study step. I did it on this particular piece because I felt that I need to improve my anatomy skills and I was having difficulty getting the proportions right. Actually, I'm still sure that I got it right.
I also tried skipping the Value step this time. Thankfully it still turned out okay.

That was a good idea with the anatomy step. I can tell how you used it to help define the musculature of the bodies. Also, with those complex dynamic poses, getting the anatomy correct would be difficult without a basic study.
I think skipping the greyscale was a good idea. Since the colors in this piece are so vivid, the greyscale step might have toned them down and detracted from the overall dynamic.
