A short story I tried to write long that lets you experience it in 1st person, didn't work that well.
(You are a humanoid; you can be human/furry/anthro/anything else humanoid. You can be male/female/both/none?)
It is early morning, you are awoken by a cool breeze on your face. You climb out of your slumber slowly, you are still pretty tired, but want to get up. You do all your normal morning duties, wash, clean, eat. It is a warm and sunny day, there is a small cold breeze, so you decide to go out for the day into the forest, as you had no plans for today, and now just want something to do.
You live quite far away from the forest, about a 2 hour walk away, so you pack a bag with all needed equipment in it, and head out. You think about inviting friends to come along with you, but today you want a bit of peace, so decide not to. Walking to the forest was very peaceful, birds are chirping, the air feels nice on your face, and tastes pretty good on your lips. It isn’t long before you actually reach the forest, from the outside it looks quite dense and thick, the trees are tall and very green and bushy on the top.
As you walk in, it gets darker, the tree tops are blocking a lot of the light from getting to you. The further you walk in, the darker it gets, and the denser it feels. As you look around, you see loads of bushes on the ground, and many branches on the floor trying to block your path. Animals are now more common, squirrels are constantly heard scurrying up trees, birds are seen searching for food, and all other wildlife runs off as you get closer to them. You start to see light shimmering in the distance, through the trees, so you start to head in that direction.
As you go through it, you now find out that the light was coming from the sun reflecting off a small stream. It is clear water, with lots of fish moving about in it. As you look in it, you can see small plant life at the bottom, and so many variations of fish, probably more than you can count. You put your hand in the water, it is cool and relaxing. The fish darted away as you put it in. you can feel the small current pushing against your hand, and you enjoy it, luckily you packed a towel, so you decide to take a quick dip for relaxation.
You climb in the water slowly, it is nice and warm, you relax your body in it, and a sigh comes out of your mouth. As you lay there for a while, some fish start swimming near you, jostling the water around you, making it feel like a hot tub. It feels as if the fish are massaging your body, it is a very nice, relaxing feeling. You don’t notice this, but you start to drift into a small sleep, your eyes sink, and all feelings go down as you fall into your sleep.
You wake up suddenly, remembering where you were, and quickly get out of the stream. You pull out your towel and start to dry yourself off. You wrap the towel around your waist, you look around, and it has grown dark, you must have been asleep for hours. You look for the path you originally came from, but can’t seem to remember what way it was, so you decide to wait until you can see well again, until there lighter again, so you unpack a sleeping bag, settle by a tree, and climb in to fall asleep and wait till the morning again.
The morning comes, your eyes stay shut, but you feel heat on your face, the heat seems to be in rhythms, blowing onto you. Whatever it is stinks badly, so you cover your nose. You finally open your eyes to see what this is, but when you do, all you see is pitch black, but when your eyes focus, you see it is something else…
You scream loudly, whatever was in front of you jumps back, and you now get a better look at it. It is a massive green dragon, way bigger than any other animal you have seen, you are nothing compared to this beast. Its talons are dug in the ground, they look very sharp like they could rip through you like butter. The dragon’s wings are folded to its side, its head has many spiky parts on it, and its body has many ridges. The tail of the beast is very long, almost as long as the body itself. The tail is flicking about, the dragon looks confused when it stares at you, and you are too scared to move.
The dragon walks closer to you, leaning its head down to yours again. You are too stunned to even scream this time, and stay stiff, staring into the dragons eyes. They look like snake eyes, a little hypnotizing to say the least. You stay staring into each other’s eyes for a short time, not blinking. You finally blink as it is starting to hurt, and as you do, the dragon snorts, hot and humid breath blows against your face, and you figure out what it was before. The dragon then moves away, and jumps in the air, its wings are very large, and membranous, the air buffeted by the dragon beating its wings hits you, and moves your hair.
You wait for a second before frantically climbing out of your sleeping bag, and quickly run off, leaving everything behind. Thoughts are entering your head about what happened, was it a dream, a hallucination? As you run back through the forest, you don’t see any animals, you don’t hear anything either, it is silent and disturbing. You trip on a rock on the ground, and land on your side. The pain is quick and sudden, your leg is cut and bruised, but you still feel that you have to go quickly, so you get back up and run again, trying to forget the pain, but you are limping slightly.
As you leave the forest, you are worn out, and your leg starts to hurt badly again. The forest is behind you, you don’t hear anything still, so you sit down and try to catch your breath, and sort out your leg. You look into the sky and see nothing, so panting heavily, you clean your leg off the dirt, and try to move it. It hurts like hell, you yelp as you try standing up again, but you know the sooner you get home, the sooner you can get it healed properly. You get up and start to walk again, now in an open field, you go slower, while looking for anything that may come behind you.
You hear a whooshing sound in the air, and you suddenly look up, but once again you see nothing. You start walking backwards, trying to see anything that may come. You see a small figure in the distance, coming at speed, so you turn and try to run again. You keep looking behind you, hoping it turns and goes away, but it relentlessly keeps heading towards you. Every time you turn, you get slower, and the creature gets closer, you decide not to turn back again, and just head forward.
The air suddenly gets colder, and shoots past you, you tense your eyes, and dash as fast as you can, and the pain in your leg is killing. As you open your eyes again so you can see where you are going, you see the same dragon as before dart down towards you. It lands heavily in front of you, the ground shakes as lands, knocking you down. You are on your back, looking at the dragon, which seems to just be standing there. The dragon shows its teeth, your eyes widen, the teeth are bigger than any sword you ever saw, and look sharper as well. You see some glistening on one of the teeth, and it is moving down it. As you focus in on it, the glistening is a droplet of saliva, and it falls onto the ground, creating a small splash. You then realize what is about to happen.
You start to try and crawl backwards, belly face up, it is very awkward. The dragon spots you moving, and walks towards you. You turn so you are crawling on your front, it is faster, but now you can’t see what is going on. You can hear thumping from the dragon, and it is getting louder. You take one more turn, and as you do, you see a talon heading straight down upon you. You stiffen your body, waiting to be crushed, but each claw goes to your side, around you. The talon is above you, it is blocking any movement, the claws are dug in the ground around you, and some pressure is put on you, pinning you down. You try and get out of it, but to no avail. The snout of the dragon comes to your head, and takes a sniff, you can feel the air being sucked into it, and it is even pulling you towards it slightly. The claws that are around you suddenly break through the ground, and wrap around you, holding you within them. None of your body is free, your arms are pinned to your side, and your legs are in too much pain to move.
You try everything to get your arms free, but before you can do anything, the dragon jumps in the air, and beats its large wings. You feel all your weight transfer to the dragon’s claws as you are carried through the air, very high up. The wind is strong, and the claw around you tightens, completely preventing you from moving, and causing a little pain as it is harder for you to breathe now. The ground is moving fast, and you are getting further away from it by the second. You try and turn your head to see where you are going, and spot a mountain range coming closer. The dragon flares its wings as it gets closer to the mountain, catching the air in its wings, causing it to slow before it lands.
The dragon makes sure the claw holding you doesn’t hit the ground, so lands on all the others. The dragon then let’s go off you, and you fall to the floor. You look at the dragon’s eyes, it moves its head motioning you into a whole behind you, looks like a cave. You look into the cave, then back at the dragon, the dragon then growls at you, and moves closer, the only way you can go is into the cave. You crawl backwards, not letting your eyes move away from the dragons.
As you are backed into the cave, all the light seems to get blocked out by the dragon coming in after you, the dragon is now a silhouette from the sun behind it. You are being pushed in even more, and you feel the wall behind you now, blocking you from going any more back. The dragon though is blocking you from going forward, so you are now stuck in this dragon’s lair. You look for any other means of escape, but see none, all you can see is the dragon blocking your only exit.
The dragon then suddenly lunges its snout at you, pushing your chest against the wall of the cave, holding you there, and slightly pushing you up, your feet leave the floor from it. You place your hands atop the dragon’s snout, trying to push it off you. Right in front of your eyes, is the dragon’s eyes, they look smug, like this dragon had now won. You feel like the dragon has won as well, your efforts to get it off you are failing. While you are looking into its eyes, the dragon releases its tongue and wipes it around your feet, you suddenly feel shocked and scared as a wet, quite tough surface just went across your feet.
The dragon then moves back and allows you to fall to the floor, you look back up at the dragon, and its mouth is wide open, saliva covering the tongue completely, drool dripping from the upper gums and the teeth. The mouth moves over you, you first get the stench of previous meals, and then just hot and heavy breathing. As you look in, you see a very wide and deep whole, easily capable of fitting you inside with no problem what so ever. A pool of saliva then falls off the dragons tongue and lands on you, as it lands, it splatters on your head, and starts going down the rest of your body. You wipe the saliva out of your eyes, but leave the rest, it isn’t important. The saliva is heavy, it feels as if it is weighing you down.
The dragon then moves its mouth down, encapsulating you inside. All light goes, the stench greatens, you are still too scared to move, and there isn’t anywhere you can go either. As the dragon closes its mouth around you, you are pushed onto the dragon’s rigid tongue. The dragon then lifts its head, forcing you to lie atop the tongue. You try to push yourself back to the front of the mouth, but the tongue is too slippery and squishy, making you slip back down every time you even get close to moving yourself. You try many times to get up, and all fail. The last time you try it, you fell face first onto the tongue, coating yourself in the fluid on the tongue.
The tongue then pushes you to the upper pallet of the mouth, and holds you there for a second or so. It then releases you and allows you to fall back down onto the tongue. The tip of it moves around and pushes you to the side of the mouth. You try with all your might to make sure the dragon doesn’t use its sharp teeth and cut you to shreds, but it doesn’t seem to do that, as the dragons tongue wraps around your waist, and slowly moves up and down your body. You try to wrestle the tongue off you, but it doesn’t work, and it continues to move about your body, coating every little bit in saliva.
The tongue then pulls you back into the middle of the mouth, and you feel the ground lift again. Your legs rise higher than your head, and you feel gravity start to push you down. The tip of the dragons tongue wraps around your ankles, as you fall to the back of the mouth. The tongue holds you there for a bit, as you see the throat holes opening and closing, releasing a foul stench every time it opens. The tongue is lowering you slowly into the throat, you try to hold yourself back with your arms, but you just slip on everything you try and grab.
You close your eyes as your head enters the throat, you instantly feel a warm sensation on your head, and the rest of your body starts to feel the same as you are lowered in. the tongue then lets go off you, and you drop to your waist in the throat. The walls around you start to compress, pushing against you, and forcing you down. As the muscles pulsate, you slip further and further down, the lubrication of the throat helping you go down without any problems. You try struggling, but it seems to make you go down faster. The walls constantly constrict around you, and it tingles slightly.
Your head pushes against something, stopping you from going any further. Whatever is blocking you starts to get weaker, and opens up. Your head falls out of the throat first, then arms and waist. You drop your arms outwards as they fall out. Your legs then come through as well, and you fall onto your back in the stomach. Underneath you is ground that seems to be moving, it is very squishy, and it feels as if you are sinking into it. The smell clogs your nose, and the air is thick, making breathing very hard. You feel the walls of the stomach compress, and you can hear the heartbeat of the dragon thumping away. You want to scream, but you want to conserve all your energy, and all the air there is.
The ground beneath you is rocking gently, you start to feel weaker, and your eyes grow heavy. You close your eyes, and feel really sleepy, but you try with your last breathe to escape, you kick and hit the stomach walls, but you are just bounced back, not affecting the dragon what so ever. You then feel too tired to carry on, and fall back against the walls, slipping so that you are now sitting down, back against the soft stomach wall. You sigh a last sigh, and wait for the inevitable…
You wake breathing very heavily, your lungs hurt from inhaling and exhaling fast, you open your eyes and see light, trees around you. You then moves your arms, they are wet, but as you look down, you see yourself in the stream you was in before. You then try to access what happened, was it a dream? It felt too real to be a dream, but the water surrounding you could explain what you felt, and your mind creating the illusion of being eaten.
You decide it was a dream, and climb out of the water, but as you do, you notice the water slightly red around you, and as you pull yourself out, you notice a massive gash on your leg, with blood scars around it. The cut was in the same place as in the dream, and felt the same as well, you look at your belongings, and they are all messed up, and your sleeping bag is out.
Was it a dream? If it was, it doesn’t explain the sleeping bag or the cut on your leg, but if it was all real, why are you back in the stream, and alive? You decide to forget about this, so you pack your things, and head back. You remember exactly what happened in that so called dream, and it all seemed to real, but it couldn’t have been…..could it?
