Why does she remind me of Lynn Minmay from the Macross series?

I haven't watched Macross I'm afraid, so I have no clue. :B happy you like it tho ^^

Macross was a Japanese Giant Robot show from the 80's. Minmay (or Minmei?) was a pop singer who helped defeat the invading alien Zentraedi with the power of love. Or something :P Here in the states Macross was dubbed in English and repackaged as Robotech. Good show.

Yeah, I basically only knew it was Mecha, and had some vague memory of seeing nice pictures from it. :D
And I can see why you'd draw parallels between Mina and that character *nodnod*

Mina..is definitely a tragic figure, but she's swiftly becoming my favorite. She's overcome so much, dealt with so much, and still carries on. Inspiring.

Thank you for this, it's good to see a character like this get some love. You have a way of putting so much heart and soul into your work...I love it so much. I love the bittersweet, mournful yet hopeful look she has here.

I think that's among the most rewarding responses I can get; that I made someone genuinely interested in a character's story. I don't like all the choices Archie writers made regarding Mina, but I really like the premise of her character and some of the stories around her.

(Initially, I wanted Mina in the Sonic fan fic I'm prep-working... Narrative constraints ended me up creating a new character in place of both her and another girl, and by now her personality and backstory isn't close to Mina's anymore, but Mina's influence on her design is fairly obvious. http://www.furaffinity.net/view/8721621/ )
