One of two acrylic paintings I did a while back. I never could get a decent photo of it with my camera. Like most of my paintings, it looks so much better in person.

As if often the case with digitization. If you happen to use the photoshops, however, curves may help balance out the range. Still magnificent in any incarnation, nonetheless...

And camera pic notwithstanding, this is a mighty fine looking 'vern in the portrait - he seems to be pretty pissed about the trespassers that invade his turf, too.

A beautiful piece. I would sell a few fetus-doorbells to have this one for my wall :) It's been a breath of fresh air to see you posting again, and as always, you never cease to amaze. I rarely take as much time with any submissions as I do looking at yours...the details will always be my favorites <3

I think all paintings look better in person.. I am reminded of cool winter mornings.. the Highlands, or the South Island.. I want to touch and feel its wings.

The background was actually an attempt at painting part of the south island that I visited in January. Its lighthouse rock, in skippers canyon.

It looks so different down there! This is a really skilled representation of the landscape.. I was wondering.. how did you learn to paint in this realistic way? You don't have to say, of course.

The south island is so much more exciting..
I just used a photo that I took for reference and tried to paint it. It took lots of time wasting and messing around to get it to finally look vaguely okay..

Love the lighting around the dragon there, makes it feel like the fellow is looking towards the sun?
And as for that landscape... goodness! It's like a slice straight out of NZ! Fantastic!

Haha, I am glad it looks somewhat recogniseable then.. ^^ It should be familar, it's just out of Queenstown (skippers canyon).

Ah, skippers! Where I nearly wrecked my car cause I though it's a good idea to see how far my subaru can get^^ Never been there when it's covered in snow, think I need to go there again, but this time I'll just take my feet^^
