As of generation IV (I think), some pokemon have minor sprite differences based on gender. There's no statistical difference, except for Nidoran male and female which are considered two different pokemon.

there was a stat difference, minor tho i think. Females are better in Defense and speed and males have higher attack... I THINK tho... it might have just been a Gen2 thing :I
