This one was in the back-burner for quite a long time now. It's essentially my take on a vector image re-rendered in traditional methods with Copic Sketch markers. Because I love Copics that much over digital... And Rarity is one of my favorite for some reason (maybe it's the artist in me that relates to her sense of design and such, although hob-nobbing with snobs doesn't appeal to me).
For the background, I tried doing the airbrush thing again, but there were setbacks, one of which was that, in compressed air cans, they get cold and create frost on the nibs, and the other was that the small can I got was good for one 8.5x11 inch paper, so I ran out of air before I could do the other half of the 'radiance' effect DX I either need to use the more bigger cans or save up for another air pump system (I can't seem to find my old one, and I think sis basically second-handed it). Either way, I need more practice if I really wanna do it this way... and find some online tutorials, maybe.
No vector references were used, but the screenshot from the episode "Sweet and Elite" was used for the base (traced, yes, but thanks to the Brony community and Faust, they brought on a whole new meaning for the concept).

Well Dahling, Rarity is your favorite because she should be! it's just that simple!
I kid. But more realistically, she's my favorite because she bucks so many stereotypes. This type of character is usually a judgemental "meangirl" shopping whore. And Rarity isn't (To an extent). If she gets judgemental, she usually corrects herself, she's never intentionally cruel. She's generous and loving. And while she loves shopping, it doesn't rule her life. I think she'd rather make a dress for her friend, than buy one for herself.
I love her because she has real faults that anyone can relate to (All the ponies do, actually), and she has almost crippling OCD. And while she is indeed a propper Lady, who enjoys the finer things in life, she's not helpless or defenceless. When the chips are down, her friends can always count on her. And when she has no one to fall back on, she can kick her fair share of ass herself.
And she is also seriously funny. Especially her voice actress who brings her to life with so many wonderful and hilarious florishes.
More on topic, great work! Must-fave!
