Been checking out rumours for Pokemon X and Y, and I’m somewhat looking forward to it. I think it’s about time there was a full 3D Pokemon adventure. It might be about time for me to invest in a Nintendo 3DS.

It got me thinking about how long I’ve been a fan of the games series. The games, along with everything else related at the time, hit UK shores back in October ‘99. It was everywhere in no time at all. It wasn’t until my 9th birthday in April 2000 that I first experienced the games. I can only speculate how many hours I’ve clocked playing Pokemon handheld games since then. The gameplay is still just as deep and fun now as it was when I first picked up Pokemon Blue.

Growing up, this series was a massive part of my life. It definitely inspired my early, developing skills as an artist, and is the reason I love deep, explorative adventure games.

Got about halfway through shading this but I had to move on to more important work. Thought I’d throw up the flat colour piece for now. Just my favourite starters from Generations I to V with a trainer based on the Veteran from the Black and White games.
