You can thank
Stampy for this, very unique production from me in Photoshop CS5.
Long story short, I was in a foul mood trying to fix my Minecraft mod after an obnoxious day at work when he started streaming. I quickly left the chat when all the fetishy comments started to fly all over the place when the stream started but left the video up on full screen on my Desktop while I continued on my laptop and kept some contact with Mr. Stamp as he worked on a picture for me (running on and on and on).
Over the course of his years of work, I always felt his techniques and stuff to be so alien to my own, but this time around, I could follow his pathing rather well, popping an occasional question or remark along the way. I guess my work at my Newspaper job has at least made much of Photoshop more comfortable to me, even though I don't do any drawing or painting there.
So after he quit and went to bed, I started this sketch in Open Canvas and brought it into Ps. I tried to use as many of his strategies as I could remember plus an important DeviantArt tutorial I stored away from last year for mimicking some watercolor brush in SAI (a program I've never used).
If there was any real problem I had with this was I kept mixing up my tools. I seem to have a really good sense of layers... but I dunno why I do. You'd think I'd be some traditional artist fool that can't remember which layer I'm on.
So done in about 5 hours or so. Mind you, I have not really FINISHED a high quality painting like this before. Started many, but got fed up with Photoshop. Well, Mr. Stamp's techniques had a LOT of appeal to me.
Now I just have to hope I remember them. c.c'
