The Day the Night Slept

Thousands of years ago, at the limits of our world... I used to submit music! Then I got into a team project voicing Hatoful, a set of games about talking pigeons, which gathered a community of fangirls and my life in general got a bit strange. They really are incredibly well-written games, though, far beyond what you'd expect just by looking at screenshots and laughing at the mad premise - if you want to hear a group of thirty-year-olds choking back tears as they fight through the second game's conclusion, my Youtube channel is just full of it.
No matter what it says about my sanity, then, this is the second of my songs inspired by the characters and events of Hatoful - a positive song that was conceived after we knew the story of the third chapter of the game... but before the fourth one.
I've started putting karaoke-style videos of my song lyrics on Youtube - they're quite fun to make, and might make it easier to follow along with the wordless files.

From the shackles of the earth
We rise up to the realm of dreams
A path awakened in the sleeping sky
Found the keys for the eclipse
And flew away into the black
Past the Swan towards infinity
And while the moon is dark
We travel on hand in hand
Behind us the earth
Fades to black and disappears
Take a ride
And let the stars be your guide
Until the daybreak
We follow the planisphere
Across the bridge of stars
Towards a world never seen
For now you're free
On the wings of a dream
Beyond the borderlines
Ascending over the skies
Like diamonds we'll shine
In the ocean divine
Remember the day the night slept
Walking free again
Outside the tethers tied to you by death
A journey on towards the corners of imagination
Cross the river glowing bright
And as you find your way
Hold on to the map of obsidian
And while the moon is dark
I won't let go of your hand
Behind us the earth
Fades to black and disappears
Take a ride
And let the stars be your guide
Until the daybreak
We follow the planisphere
Across the bridge of stars
Towards a world never seen
For now you're free
On the wings of a dream
Beyond the borderlines
Ascending over the skies
Like diamonds we'll shine
In the ocean divine
Remember the day the night slept
On towards the southern cross
Through mystic constellations
I want this dream to last forever
The pathway down to earth
Will fade away behind us
And we'll be lost inside forever
I never want this night to end
Will we wake if morning comes again
Across the bridge of stars
Towards a world never seen
For now you're free
On the wings of a dream
Beyond the borderlines
Ascending over the skies
Like diamonds we'll shine
In the ocean divine
So remember the day
And while the sunlight sleeps
We can become anything
We're lost in dreams
On a quest for a king
On solar wings ascend
Imagine life without end
For the ghost, for the hunter
The migrant and king
For the sleepers beside us
All sharing the dream
Would you shatter the false star
And come back to life
Remember the day the night slept

I know it seems somewhat questionable to comment on the lyrics in a vocal-less MODPlug track, especially when I can't even explain what makes any parts of them any more effective or why I like them any more than any others, but....
I'm sorry, I have to say it; the "For the ghost, for the hunter, the migrant and king/For the sleepers beside us all sharing the dream" bit is outstanding. Maybe it's because I was there for the pigeons, too, and I know who everyone mentioned is, or maybe it's because I like the repetition in this part of the song, or maybe it just really does do that good a job pairing the words to the vocal sound ... I don't know. It's especially good, somehow.

It means an incredible amount to me when people comment on the lyrics of these vocalless tracks :) Perhaps releasing videos like that will increase their visibility a little! And thank you for mentioning it - it's very special to know that people who know the meaning behind them appreciate them that much.
You know that, even if I don't comment, I always read (even sing) the lyrics
Two weeks ago, I've driven to see some furiends of mine, and I listened again Unreality and Signal from the Sky. Thanks for accompagning me through my trip
(Beside,
luchs and myself are planning the spotlight for April. You submit some of your musics, I'm sure people would like to hear them )

Do you know what the really awful part about this is? I love the song, and yet, since it's power-metal, I keep hearing it being sung in The King's voice. And if you imagine The King singing it, it takes on a much darker and sadder meaning.
I fear Holiday Star has ruined me.

I'd actually be interested to know if, from a non-metal perspective, power metal vocals do seem harsh... even though so much of the reason I like the subgenre is that to me the vocals sound so completely unlike the growled... well, King-style vocals of other branches of it.
