Team Zero Percent
Name: Ferran Zangello
Age: 16
Species: Furret
Type: Normal
Ability: Keen Eye
Item: Go-Goggles
Sex: Male
Class: Sophmore
Moves:
Year 1: 1: Quick Attack 2: Fury Swipes 3: Foresight 4: Slash
Year 2: 1: Dig 2: Double Team 3: Follow Me 4: Thief
History & Notes:
Ferran is a transfer student from the Hoenn Region. His family lives in Fallarbor Town, where they study Mt. Chimney and the effects of the volcanic ash on the area. Ferran grew up here, and would often go along with his parents when they'd go up to do research at the volcano. On some of these trips, they'd go by cable car, and would have to go by the desert and its constantly blowing sand. Because of this, Ferran came into possession of a pair of Go-Goggles, allowing him able to have no issues transversing the area.
The furret recently transferred over, mostly to learn new things from the foreign Poke Combat Academy. His parents could afford the cost of the schooling, and he seemed to be more interesting in learning to be a proper fighter instead of a scientist like his parents. Also, unlike most furrets, Ferran doesn't have any real issues with rattatas, although he doesn't really care for sevipers though.
Ferran has recently become the Team Leader of Team Zero Percent, after the previous Team Leader, Mal, became injured. Not everyone is currently happy on the team with this change of events (that would be Vermillion). This information maybe expanded on later (mostly in a story form) so don't worry about it so much.
Ferran's a pretty evasive target. He likes to play 'Keep Away' with his opponent, and instead attacks when they're not expecting it. He'll either use quick attacks to get in early hits, or use double team to help confuse his enemy with additional targets, while he gets in place for a sneak attack. He's also gotten good at using his speed to get in close to his target and steal anything of use from them. Lastely, he's also started to learn to make himself into a target (especially when there are multiple illusionary copies of him to help him), when being part of a team fight.
When Ferran fights, he plays quick and loose. He makes things as he goes, and often improvises on the fly. Not all his improvisations work, but it does make predicting Ferran a hard thing to do. While Mallary might find such improv a bit disconcerting, he still has faith that the furret is doing his all to win.
One last note. Ferran knows how to slash folks with his claws. Why? Simple. Did I forget to mention that Ferran's father was a Zangoose, and his mom was a Furret?
Name: Vermillion Rattus
Age: 17
Species: Rattata
Type: Normal
Ability: Guts
Item: Black Glasses
Sex: Male
Class: Junior
Moves:
Year 1: 1: Quick Attack 2: Bite 3: Hyper Fang 4: Focus Energy
Year 2: 1: Crunch 2: Super Fang 3: Sucker Punch 4: Frustration
Year 3: 1: Rock Smash 2: Dig 3: Endure 4: Taunt
History & Notes:
Well, if Vermillion has much of a history, he's not telling it. In fact, when he's not talking about his past (which is all the time), he's usually being a sarcastic jerk. Vermillion takes his position of #2 on the Zero Percents pretty seriously, so much so that he's still rather offended at the fact that he wasn't given the Team Leader status when Mallary was forced to remove himself from active team fighting because of his injury. It probably doesn't help that Vermillion doesn't like furrets in general, so the fact that one is now the Team Leader, and one who's an underclassman is just more salt to that wound to his pride.
Vermillion's pretty direct in his combat fighting. Its a no-frills combat style where he often will try to go blow-for-blow with his enemy. On occasion he will use a sucker punch, or dig to in a shot in on his opponent when he can, or he'll taunt them into giving him an opportunity with either attack. Its actually the fact that Vermillion isn't much of a strategist, that caused Mal to not give him the Team Leader position.
The only thing worst than Vermillion is when he gets pissed off. When he gets angry, Vermillion often uses his frustration to start viciously attacking his target over and over. Against some weaker opponents, this can be very brutal. Luckily, very few folks have seen him that angry. Of note, the only one Vermillion will state is on his unhappy list is Ferran.
But, when it comes to classes and studies, Vermillion isn't bad. He's just very single minded in his approach. He also has the most diverse amount of curse words of the whole team as well, and will typically use any and/or all of them when he's upset.
Name: Talon Redtail
Age: 17
Species: Pidgeotto
Type: Normal/Flying
Ability: Keen Eye
Item: None
Sex: Male
Class: Junior
Moves:
Year 1: 1: Sand Attack 2: Gust 3: Quick Attack 4: Whirlwind
Year 2: 1: Fly 2: Agility 3: Wing Attack 4: Roost
Year 3: 1: Defog 2: Aerial Ace 3: Steel Wing 4: Endure
History & Notes:
Talon is the team's resident aerial specialist. He's very interested in aerial history and combat, part of the reason his vest is sewn with bits of aerial symbols and patches. He also tends to wear some form of eye protection when flying as well. He really doesn't have much to talk about when it comes to his family. His family is fairly large, and Talon is one of the first in his family to go to the PCA.
In combat, Talon relies on his aerial speed to make hit-and-run attacks against his target, as well as helping provide support in case one of his team mates is overwelmed. Against teams that rely on smokescreens, Talon plays a defensive role in blowing away the enemy cover.
As the team's #3, the pidgeotto defers to either the Team Leader, or Mallary. Talon knows that Vermillion isn't a strategist, so tends to follow his orders from the higher ups, over listening to Vermillion's orders, mostly because Vermillion seems to think everyone should fight like he does. This does peeve Vermillion on occasion, and has caused the rattata to confront the pidgeotto, but Talon usually just gives Vermillion enough agreement to get him off his back.
Of all his team members, Talon tends to be close friends with Mal, since the two can often discuss aerial combat at length. Mal doesn't know how to fly but the fact that he could does help lend itself to discussions with Talon on the subject.
Name: Othello "Otty" Buizelli
Age: 17
Species: Buizel
Type: Water
Ability: Swift Swim
Item: None
Sex: Male
Class: Junior
Moves:
Year 1: 1: Quick Attack 2: Sonic Boom 3: Water Gun 4: Surf
Year 2: 1: Swift 2: Pursuit 3: Aqua Jet 4: Agility
Year 3: 1: Ice Beam 2: Dig 3: Strength 4: Double Team
History & Notes:
Otty was an transfer student from the Sinnoh Region, during his Freshman year. According to the buizel, he lived in Sunyshore City, where he learned to surf early in his childhood. No one is quite sure if he was telling the whole truth about this, mostly because Otty has been described as a bit of a "space case" under decent circumstances, and by Vermillion as "proof that the Sunyshore City is missing their village idiot".
Otty isn't the smartest of the team members, but he is probably one of the friendliest. In fact, he seems to consider Vermillion his friend, even though Vermillion has said on many occasion that the buizel is just delusional. Otty is friendly, and tends to not get on the bad side with folks. He does love to chat about surfing though.
Since the PCA doesn't have any big bodies of water to surf at, Otty has taken up skateboarding in the meantime. Because Otty isn't the smartest buizel out there, he often gets himself into trouble when surfing or skateboarding. On a few occasions, Otty has managed to skate into a brick wall (or 3).
When it comes to combat, Otty is a wild card. He tends to rely on speed when making attacks, but he also knows a few attacks that could make it hard for an enemy to attack him. In fact, Mal often has to go over the general plan for a fight with Otty a few times before he gets remembers it, and even then he usually forgets it once he's in the middle of a fight. But Otty doesn't seem to mind, and so Mal tends to factor this into his plans for the team.
Name: Mallary "Mal" Stewart
Age: 17
Species: Farfetch'd
Type: Normal/Flying
Ability: Inner Focus (No Guard)
Item: Stick
Sex: Male
Class: Junior
Moves:
Year 1: 1: Sand Attack 2: Fury Cutter 3: Knock Off 4: Slash
Year 2: 1: Cut 2: Air Cutter 3: Swords Dance 4: Protect
Year 3: 1: Night Slash 2: Air Slash 3: False Swipe 4: Endure
History & Notes:
Mallary was the original creator of Team Zero Percent. As a farfetch'd, he was expected to become a stick-master upon entering the PCA. Early on, he excelled in one-on-one battling, using his fencing style and strategic planning to gain an edge on his opponents. In order to push himself even further though, Mal decided to form a team, taking three overlooked individuals under his wing, to try and craft them into a cohesive team. In the early stages, his team was given a 0% chance of winning, so Mal decided to use that as the team name. Zero Percent.
Recently, Mallary has suffered a bad injury to his ACL, when he endured quite a few brutal attacks, before he was knocked out. Unfortunately, this has religated him to a non-active roll for the team. He currently uses a large leek onion stick as a walking cane, and limps to his classes and to the gym. The nurses and doctors are still unsure if the farfetch'd will be able to fight in his senior year, or if this injury could be one that ends his career as a poke combat fighter. Now he plays the part of team coach and strategist. He still has the ultimate say when it comes to the Zeros, but on the field, he leaves the fighting to Ferran's leadership.
On the field, Mal is still a master of the giant leak onion stick. He typically wears his original fighting onion across his back. This was given to him by his father before he left for the academy. If forced to fight, every opponent is treated as having the No Guard ability, giving them a 100% chance of hitting him, since Mal can not dodge in his current state. His mobility is very limited as well. Do not take that as meaning he's weak, since a slash with his onion stick still has as much power behind it as it originally did.
Mallary tends to be quiet, watching and thinking. When he does talk, he usually does so for a specific reason. Some might call him aloof and potentially cool. He just thinks of himself as a disciplined observer as well as a swords'mon.

Yeah, well, considering the original team had 3 individuals who were weak against electric attacks, thats why both Vermillion and Otty know how to dig, although Vermillion is more suited to it than Otty.
And a surfing pikachu? Nice. I figured Otty would be good to come from there. It was either that or Sandgem, but I figured it would be easier to do Sunyshore.
But thanks. I really wanted to mix the team up with a bunch of low end types who are still giving it their all.

That's the beauty of something like the PCA though, where it isn't fought on paper it's fought in the ring.
Yeah, wanted to do a surfing character to be an alt on the team due to another character's backstory, so I figured to use the rare but classic surfing Pikachu.
And it almost makes me wonder if Otty and Rufus would have met...

Very true. And yeah, surfing characters are spiffy. Its just too sad that you can't transfer the Surfing pikachu to Diamond/Pearl, considering you can't transfer TMed ones. Its still an awesome type though.
And actually, I wouldn't be suprised if Rufus and Otty have met. Otty's probably hard to forget. Plus, he still has his netball colored surfboard.
