One of my artistic influences is Marc Tolon Brown, the creator or Arthur Read. I grew up reading his books - in fact, I owned a copy of "Arthur Goes To Camp" years ago. Recently, I bought an older copy of Arthur's Valentine and as practice, started copying some of the artwork out of it.

The book itself was written in 1980. As you can see here, Arthur had a much different appearance from the more streamlined version that appears on the PBS animated show.
