It's a great idea for fellow females to share a bit about themselves and be proud of who they are.
My name is Devon, but I'm known as Temperance in the furry community. I may be a lady, but I'm a real tomboy. I love comics and video games and horror movies. I get more excited about buying the latest Ultimate Spider-man than I am about buying clothes or getting my hair done.
I was born and raised in Calgary, Canada. I've lived in Calgary my whole life. I love my city and like all Calgarians I get my cowboy on every year for the Calgary Stampede. I love horses and riding and rodeos and country music (all year long!). I own a belt buckle and two (count em!) cowboy hats. I also love Alberta Beef. We have great steak here, but I don't get to eat it very often.
I'm married to my best friend. He's not a furry, but he supports me in all my endeavors and wants me to be happy. I make fursuits for a living, but I spent a lot of time job hopping before I found something I love and want to do for the rest of my life. I've never been happy working for someone else. I wanted to be a comic book artist when I was younger, but found I couldn't spend the long hours of sitting required to do the work. I still draw, but not enough to support myself. My short time as a comic book artist made me very paranoid about deadlines. I try to maintain a reputation as someone who can be trusted to get something done ON TIME.
I am shy and introverted, but I try very hard to be sociable with people. When I am out with people I have a good time, but I get very anxious in initiating anything; which means I'm happy to go out if invited, but I rarely invite people to do stuff with me T_T I am always trying very hard to change this as I get older. I have been helping my mom and Aunt take care of my Grandmother as her health degrades. I saw how lonely she was in her later years and how she (like me), worried about being around people to the point she isolated herself completely from life. I never want to grow old and self impose isolation on myself.
I'm also constantly paranoid that I am rude or selfish. I sometimes muzzle myself when talking with others to avoid saying something that someone might take offense with. Unfortunately this also means I distance myself from people and directly conflicts with my attempts to overcome my introverted nature.
I don't like being judged, but when people criticize my work, I often react by trying HARDER! If someone tells me my anatomy is off or my sewing is poor, I will put effort into proving them wrong, so they can never say that again. It still hurts and I still take offense when people judge, but if I stew on it for a few days I quickly forget the hurt and just hold on to the motivation.
I love musicals >_< My favorite musical is probably Lion King, followed by Evil Dead and Cats. I'm too old to be in a show, but I do love to dance and make costumes from my favorite shows. I have LOTS of costumes I have made from the musical Cats
I also love Chocolate :d Especially American Hersey's bars. We have Herseys in Canada, but they taste different from the American variety. Every time I go to the states, I buy a few bars to bring back with me, but they rarely last more than a few days >_<
I think that's about it.... durr.... oh, I suffer from Sleep paralysis. If I fall asleep on my back, I tend to wake while my body is still trapped in REM state. This means I am fully conscious but I cannot move. This is sometimes followed with a sense of pure dread and the feeling there is someone in the room with you; usually a demonic figure or an old woman (known as "the visit from the old Hag"). It was very scary the first few times I got it, but now I'm pretty used to it. Often I can just go back to sleep and the REM state will pass, it only gets scary if I try to fight it.
EDIT: Gosh, with all the nice things from people, I sure have the warm fuzzies >_< Thanks everyone.
And ladies: your turn!

It's always a joy to see and learn more about you and your work.

Hmm, my mother's mother had this too. My mother told me how every few years Granny got it so bad one of them would have to sleep in the room with her, because she'd stop breathing until they woke her up. She used to tell them how she saw a black figure of a man, a featureless shadow, come in and start throttling her. Brrr.
Glad to hear that you've got a way of dealing with it.

The first time I had it I thought the devil was in the room. It was years later that I learned what it was. I can see why people think they get possessed or abducted by aliens when it happens. It's crazy weird.
I'm glad I can breathe okay when it happens, I know lots of people choke or lose their breath from the sensation of weight on their chest or throat.

What a wonderful chance to get a better glimpse at you. I have suffered many times from the
Sleep paralysis as well, it's very terrifying and I usally see it as a strange man in my room. I started to
Combat those dreams by imagining a good friend comforting and talking me through it.

I totally feel you. I have horrible eyesight & if I wake up the middle of the night to go to the bathroom I'll see things that aren't what they appear to be. It's unsettling but I've gotten used to it.
I have a love hate relationship with horror & especially the Japanese horror genre. I love it because it is very interesting & suspenseful but it can scare the bejeezus out of me. I say embrace your fears. I did & it helped me a lot. I cosplayed as Samara from the ring & as a zombie helped me overcome my fear of fictitious characters . Here's a pic of my Ring costume, http://photo.cosplay.com/11473/121122.jpg & zombie https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hpho.....9504627_n.jpg. You're a costumer. Maybe you can create your fear to help come to terms with it too.

We love you Devon and your amazing work. I think I can say on behalf of all your followers that we wish you and your family all the best in doing what you enjoy with your life.
You bring such joy to others through your work, not just to the people who order a costume, but to the people that are delighted to see them, hug them, and interact with them.
Keep on being amazing ^__^

Your creations are truly stunning!! I believe where you feel you lack in some respects, you completely make up for it through the talent, dedication and love of your work. One of the things you wrote "but if I stew on it for a few days I quickly forget the hurt and just hold on to the motivation." <
THIS is an AWESOME mindset!!
Thank you for sharing the woman behind the masks/suits. It truly shows how beautiful you are inside and out. <3

You should just go to Hershey, PA and get this: http://www.hersheysstore.com/product_detail.do?q=7452&promoCode=HSHVMLFDWEBMACSS
I think that'd tide you over for a while.

p.s. i thought you were a dude until i commissioned you yayayaya, but dinosaurs would look weird with boobs i guess.

This is great ;o; Your hyena head looks like the "You scared kitty" meme from that angle. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_HS-OqmYbl.....ared_kitty.jpg
I was thinking more of: http://cdn.memegenerator.net/instan.....x/28901338.jpg xD
Not to mention youre obviosly an collector of heads as well, or at least it looks like that somehow. As I have said a few times you have a real talent for putting out amazing costumes and I think that Broadway and Hollywood are saying no to a real talent when theyre not using youre skills. Just saying.
