Well I just got done playing Castlevania Lord of Shadows: Mirror of Fate for the 3DS not long ago. It sparked the Castlevania mood...so figured this time around I'd try to do one of Castlevania Style Spike...since I've done one of Ike last time.
Hopefully I can get my computer fixed up and running faster so I can start my shading again. @_@ Took long enough just do something with a background...without the program slowing down.

I personally myself really enjoyed the game.
It does change allot of history in terms of the older games...but the Lord of Shadows is a reboot and I take it as its own thing. For what is was I enjoyed it. The only thing that bothered me was the length. I wish it had been longer and gone into more story detail.

yeah the trailers and stuff said it would be a 20 hour game, but for a blind runthrough and being unable to put it down, it only took a measly 9. i also wish they did a bit more with the upgrades. but i guess with what they did have, you didnt really need much else. the game just felt kinda empty for a castlevania game. it was fun and all, and i enjoyed it, but for all those skill unlocks, i mostly just found myself using the same 2 or 3 throughout.
Yeah, it took me about 14 hours to 100% the game...that along with all the early training I did to level up. The secret ending for 100% the game was not all that great ether.
I do agree it felt a little empty despite being a fun experience. I would have liked more to explore and more to find. I also wish there was more point in leveling up, as I do agree I rarely used any of the later skills.
It fells to me it was more of a game to link of to Lords of Shadow 2.

well to be fair, it was a handheld game. the things they could have done for it were limiting enough. the concept was cool, and alucards story interested me to say the least.
another thing i thought would have been cool, was if each character used something other than the combat cross. or if the passive abilities crossed over between characters. simon desperately could have used some speed. his chapter felt the longest compared to the other two.
I'm still looking forward to playing LoS2 though, i will forever be a castlevania fan, even if the games arent as amazing as my fave, circle of the moon.

Yeah, I know. I just would have liked more fights mostly. I was surprised you don't fight the Toy Maker...nor do I recall fighting that green ghost that was roaming the castle. Seems weird to have them in there if you don't face them in battle.
Yeah, I was surprised Alucard used a Whip...as he normally uses a sword. Even looked like a sword in the official art. I guess it made sense though with his background.
I'm newer to the series so I still have allot of catching up to do. It was not until the Wii when I was able to go back and play allot of the games I missed when I was younger...due to the lack of titles I could get. So I was finally able to play lots of series I missed out on...such as Castlevania.
I've never played Circle of Moon.

circle of the moon was the first handheld castlevania game on the gba to adopt a similar method of gameplay as symphony of the night. it had an interesting system where your character would use multiple different combinations of cards to power up his whip, giving it elemental properties, or different animations.
there was a whole array of usefulness to it. the game had tons of backtracking, as all metroidvania games did, but it wasn't super tedious to do. and it also had replay value as well. once the game was completed, you were given an in game name for your next playthrough. using the names made your character take on an actual class role, with their stats being strengthened in one area and hindered in the rest.
for such a small game, it had very much to offer, and any fan of the series should try it at least once if possible. I would highly recommend it.

From what I've heard they plan to at some point in time. Makes sense too.
I did get Castlevania Adventure...boy was that one a strange bag. XD I guess I can't say much since it was the first of the Gameboy games. I'm hoping they put Legends on there...it had a great soundtrack for a Gameboy game.
