Iron Artist #34 - 35: Hallan, Max & Hollie.
So, apparently based on a true story:
I should let
hallan explain it (see below) since it's his commission. But essentially, let's just say even a big guy like
maximus-ursus doesn't have much inertia if he's already in the process of moving, so a little push goes a long way.
holliehyena is suitably amused.
I had to upgrade his two-slot commission a bit since it was the best way to show the event as it happened.
I also believe this is the first time I've drawn Max with a shirt on.

Fantastic as always, Vince! And yes, this is absolutely true.
As requested, the story:
Sunday evening at MFF 2012, as the con was winding down, Max, Tiptoe, and I were contacted by Hollie Hyena and invited up to her and her husband Sodalite's room for foot massages and con videos. I had to drop something off at the hotel room first, so Max and Tip went ahead. By the time I got to Hollie's, she had melted Tiptoe into a pool of bliss with a foot, hand, and scalp massage and had started working on Maximus next. I flumped belly-down on the bed next to Maximus to watch Sodalite's con videos. Once Hollie finished with Max's feet, she had him turn belly-down (head toward the end of the bed, same as me) so she could massage his hands, with much happy murring from the bear. Once she'd finished that, she asked if I'd like a foot massage. After a bit of hemming and hawing, I agreed, at which point Hollie instructed me to shove the big bear out of the way.
With a grin, I gave him a playful two-handed push. I expected that he would be anticipating it and be braced. He wasn't. To my surprise, not only was he -not- braced, he was in the midst of rolling off the bed to get out of the way. By the time I reacted to pull my push, it was too late: he'd already been hurried past the tipping point. In near slow-motion, everyone watched as he toppled off the bed, arms flailing, legs narrowly missing the bedstand lamp... right into a pile of Hollie's clothes. (Hence the '*coughcoughmaxinmyclothescoughcough*' comment in Hollie's con journal...) Oops!
Who knew a tai chi push could be so effective?

Why is it everything you do, even unintentional things, just underscore your growing strength, lion??
That's a hilarious story though, I can definitely see that happening, right down to the look on everyone's faces, especially Max's. ^_^ I can see why you're so pleased with the pic!

*Smiles* This is why I'm glad most beds at the MFF hotel are quite big enough to hold two big furs. *Smirks now* Guess this was a scenereo where it wasn't. X3
NOOOO! Max in SHIRT! He needs to take that off. Especially after fallin' with comedic effect. ;-3
Truly enjoy how you captured Hollie's laughter in this. <=)

LOL!!! Yes, you drew it exactly as how it really happened. At least everyone had the good sense of just watching me crash in slow motion instead of trying to help, since this was going to be the result regardless. Honestly, I don't know why hotels even let me stay anymore with how clumsy I am.
Thanks for yet another perfect "slice of life" style art. You rawk. The massage from Hollie was so worth it though and we all still laugh about how funny this was. Good times.
