This swimming pool is based on two local swimming pools I remember from my childhood. One was in a local college. The other was Dundee Council's 'Olympia' Leisure Centre, which was built in the early 1970s. I remember going there weekly in the late 90s when my brother used to get swimming lessons there and me and my dad would take to the leisure pool and water slides to amuse ourselves. Sadly it is set to close and be demolished this year and be replaced with a new venue. This scene merges inspiration from Olympia's diving pool, training pool, and also has hints of that pool in that college building I can remember from way back when.
I wanted to make a scene that was a bit more interesting than I usually do, and I went back to what I learnt in graphic design classes during when I studied for my Highers at school (I passed with flying colours!) - namely isometrics, planometrics and vanishing points.
The splash from the raccoon diving is also inspired by the work of pop artist David Hockney, who I also learnt about in art class during my last two years at school ^^.

Nice perspective shot here, you give a good sense of height :3
I was never a fan of high-diving in school, I was more the underwater type, could hold my breath longest :P. Friends used to call me a submarine because I spent so long under, and I had to wear a black long-sleeved swimshirt because of my fair skin >.< (less kind people called me a whale because I was also fat >.>)

Kids can be so cruel =P I HATED swimming classes at high school - shorts were forbidden - we had to wear trunks. The girls got it off easier, as they were to wear one piece costumes (sadly no bikinis allowed). The only consolation I had was that most of the boys in my year weren't very fond of swimming classes either.
You've got it all the wrong way around Keen! Wearing trunks was the best thing about swimming classes & swim meets! ;)
Then again I was a strong swimmer and not especially shy or lacking in confidence about my.. 'physique' , so maybe it was worse for the ones who just flail about in the shallow end! I have noticed there's an alarming amount of people I talk to even now who don't know how to swim. They're missing out!
