I think your good enough sketches are a good result, you get the idea of the pose and movement, although gaps in parts like legs or the balance of the character feels that is falling.
You know how you can improve that, apart from practice, you can try doing a skeleton before placing the muscles or clothes ... and never more guided comes with photographs.
