I was at the Raptor Center yesterday, Luke did nothing but sing and sing and sing.
He also tried to lure me into his nest box with a piece of a mouse he had.
I think he wants me to come lay eggs for him...
has some pretty adorable competition lol.
For those who don't know.
Luke is an imprint, meaning he is perfectly healthy but firmly believes he is a human (or we are giant Kestrels). He does not recognize his own species, he begs us for food and companionship. In the US it is illegal who own these birds without proper permits. Luke was found as a baby and illegally owned before coming to our center June of 2011.
Will scrap later, I just really like the birds and it sucks only seeing them once a week now.

In my current day job i have met a dozen or so mentally retarded people....i don't think any of them would ever conceive of the idea to set out to hurt/harm/insult anyone...
Trolls are not mentally retarded, - they are uneducated, insecure, frightened, and so take a stance of I"M RIGHT and attack others to prove/defend their own hallow beliefs...Uncivilized. A civilized person does not strike out at neighbours.

Such a beautiful kestrel! The best I have are some americana (I believe I spelled that right) chickens, haha!
I wish I worked at a raptor center like you do, it would be so much fun to be around those birds all day, even if I would have to clean the areas, feed them, and do whatever.

It's most commonly seen in birds but I'm sure other animals may imprint. They basically figure out their own species by who raises them, so when we raise babies we have to take care not to let them see us and we keep them with others of their species if possible.
Luke was hand-fed by a human who treated him like you would a baby parrot. So he assumed that human was his parent and his species.
