Working with lighting but I designed another icon for His Royal Majesty, King Louie.

Gorgeous portrait of Louie, Bass! :O
So you're playing with lighting, huh? Well it certainly seems that way here, as I can't recall the colors of any of your previous character portraits or icons being this subdued. This drainage of vibrancy...it really affects the "feeling" I get from Louie here, especially when you consider the other details, like the individual facial features that comprise the whole expression. But not to worry, the feeling that exudes from this icon isn't a negative one, in my opinion; though it is tastefully complex!
Considering all that King Louie's been through, this icon effectively conveys his current situation: he's "faded" from the royal scene yet manages to maintain his base colors. His eyes, cheeks and maybe even his muzzle seem a bit "worn," perhaps from the pressure that comes with constantly fleeing and hiding for your life; yet one can't ignore the warmth that seemingly exhausted face emits.
A faint smile, but just as good as any other. Clear blue eyes with a glint of cheerfulness and hope. And some pretty darn resolute eyebrows, if you ask me! Heh, and don't be so surprised that I've yet to mention his "fiery" mane, its encompassing presence being sharply self-evident. I did so because I wanted to show that the less obvious features contribute quite a bit. This is a painting if I've ever seen one, so I feel that those smaller details are more than just "support" elements; they're powerful properties in their own right!
Phew...an overdone comment, I'm sure; but when I'm in the mood, it's difficult not to fully express myself. =)
