Biggest Little Fur Con: The Roaring Twenties - Conbook Cover
My final contribution to BLFC is the conbook cover. I had a lot of fun with this one. I really want to paint more often but I'm really slow at it and I don't have a lot of time for it.
Anyway, I was looking at a lot of Saturday Evening Post covers from way back when for inspiration/approach for this, particularly a lot of Leyendecker and Rockwell covers. I really like those two because they had a knack for storytelling in a single image (not to mention just being awesome in their technique). I tried to go for that approach, and since BLFC is in a casino hotel, well, that's why they're at a card table. :P Oh, I also used a limited palette again like in my poster for BLFC: browns, oranges, whites, and just a touch of violet. It's very interesting to work with only a few colors, something I haven't really explored before, so gonna try to do it more often and see where it takes me!
If interested, I had some process work over on my Tumblr for this.
I'm really excited for this con!

So effin' classy. And I find it really cool you were able to find actual media from the time, and incorporate authentic examples into what you've done here.
I think I can safely say this con will have some of the most inviting media of any in memory. Hope you had as much pleasure in making them as we have in viewing them.

Oh excellent work, Sal! Youโve caught the Saturday Evening Post look, catching the โimage-storyโ style that Rockwell was so well known for.
Would love to see more of this โmagazine coverโ style in future works. It is both a challenge and a treat to tell a story in one image.
