iconic saturnine & antique line drawing with gold accents #38903821
been working on this on and off in class since the beginning of the semester; used vday and saturnine's birthday last month as an excuse to scan this thing finally since it's been done for a while.
aside from the obvious association of "solve et coagula" with baphomet, I think nine would agree that it sums up an aspect of our 7 year relationship quite well. I have been and will continue to explore this idea in art of our characters.
***
mechanical pencil, white and gold pen on moleskine (cut out + patterned paper effect done in photoshop, since I did not want to cut this picture out of my sketchbook). also used photoshop to color nine's eyes and do some alterations to fix the terrible scan.

you wouldn't be able to tell by looking at most of our gallery heh, but when it comes down to it, i think our biggest influences are "classic" religious art, iconography, occult art (if you can even call that a thing?) and art novaeu (such as mucha.) antique would probably leave a better comment and i'd hope so considering she goes to school for it lol, but yeah i don't think i missed anything major?
this incredibly pretentious-sounding arty farty comment brought to you by saturnine :p

Actually, now that you mention it, I can see that influence... reminds me of the color illustrations done in old 15th century religious texts... and now when I look at it, I see all the "hidden" symbols, from the halo, to the cross ring, the symbol on his forehead... and the random bio sign? xD
It is very cool though! ^,...^

the clockwork biohazard is actually a tattoo I have so I draw it on my lamb persona, it's not meant to be a part of the symbolism for this specific piece. :> sometimes I leave it off her though, since as you noticed it does look kind of random compared to the other concepts I incorporate!

This is only one of the most amazingly beautiful things ever. It radiates so much warmth, so much love, so much depth and so much symbolism and meaning. I can't even begin to go through every detail that amazes me about this piece. Just know that this boggles my mind, and shows again, how damn amazing you are and how much you pay attention to the little things. Your work is so unique, it always has been and always will be, and you should be super proud of this.
