I was a band nerd, so I feel I am more than qualified to say that no band nerds enjoy marching in parades. You join band because you enjoy creating music, because you enjoy *competitive* marching, or because your parents wanted you to have an extracurricular activity and you are too timid for football.

Many people I knew (as well as myself) enjoyed the competitive marching. Parades...Well, there's no challenge to them. March forward, toot the horn every now and again, try not to die of boredom/step in horse poop (The horses are *always* in front of the band).

By the way, I played trombone! :D
