Alright guys, no story to go along with his one, just some artist rambling. I felt like doing some more blob vore, since I haven't really done a piece like this in a bit, so I figured I'd give this idea a whirl.
I was watching the '88 version of The Blob the other night, and I came across a comment that basically asked why people thought it was scary. Someone gave a reply that I agree with. If you've got some time, have a seat and we'll chat. If not, you can stop reading.
I don't think it's so much the actual monster that ends up being scary, or creepy, or what have you. I mean, it's a big ball of goo that rolls around. However, the scary part is the way it kills. For fans of the classic version, they know it strikes by stealth, so you have no idea it's got you until it's too late. Those who are familiar with the '88 version know that it doesn't matter if it's quiet or not, the Blob will take you if it wants you, and in the most horrific ways possible. What it boils down to is that this monster essentially digests you alive, so you can feel everything: you flesh burning away, the slime eating through you, it really is a painful way to go.
That's where the creep factor comes in. Fans of slime and being slimed know how it's supposed to feel. The slime is usually thick and goopy, and it just kinda plops on you and falls off, or gathers around you. In the case of the Blob, none of that happens. Sure, the slime starts to stick to you, but you don't feel the clammy, thickness flowing around you. All you experience is pain; burning, searing, agonizing pain as your body dissolves away. All that fun and strangeness of the slime covering you isn't there. You basically get to watch and feel yourself digest. To me, that seems pretty scary and creepy.
Now, of course I'm only talking about the scenario of The Blob itself. There are others out there who have created blobs of their own that don't work in the same way. Maybe the digestion is painless, or maybe it takes a while for it to happen, and victims suffocate first. This was just basically my thoughts on the matter. If you have any thoughts, or something you'd like to add, I'd love to continue the conversation below. If not, I hope you have a great day.

Aw no story? That's coo'...
Well actually your description is pretty awesome in itself bro! It's a nice little insight into how you perceive the Blob. I think I agree with you, the fact that you won't know until it's far too late to do anything about it is one of the creepiest things about it.
Yes being digested alive in agony is right up there too. :P
Also, those tags! xD
Great work with this bro, it's a lovely little blob picture!

I have written a blob story and generally in rps where Starcomet summons his blob it does two things. 1. If it wants to eat its prey, it will suffocate them first before digesting them or it will absorbs their life energy before releasing them. 2. If will do as Koebi's suggestion and engulf its victims and just keep them alive inside of it while it absorbs the energy/warmth of the victim for as long as it wants. It tends to do the second option as I prefer non digestion/fatal vore, but I will still rp or write a story about it.
I too was quite horrified by the film. I caught it on TV when I was young, and being the lover of slime monsters that I was, I thought it would be awesome to see a movie about a living ball of slime. Once I saw the old man half-way dissolved and Paul melting in front of Meg, I quickly turned the channel! xD Luckily, I was able to finish the movie when I got older, and I was glad I did.
