Aw Ookami, I know how you feel. It's always horribly sad and disheartening to loose your first rats. Mine are long gone but I remember every death of the original bunch. :\

Sweet picture of her. We recently lost a baby too, barely any warning that he was going to journey to the rainbow bridge. On the other hand, our poor Bloo had severe respiratory and cardiac issues. We adopted 2 baby rats and 1 middle-aged rat that couldn't find a forever home, so he had been in the backroom at the pet store.

thank you she was a sweet, though strange :P girl. her death to her sisters last month was so different sandy, slowly deterioated over a few months and sasha seem like she'd go on for ever but suddenly gone :/

im not getting any more rats till im down to a couple, as i hate having so many as i cant bond with them all properly like i did with my first 4 rats. so end of this year to end of next, i may be getting more, but hopfully thats a long time off as i dont wish the boys and girls i got at the moment away.

I understand. A lot of my evening is taking up with our rats. Dattas insists I spend at least 30 minutes with the four mischiefs (4 in big cage, 2 groups in 2 smaller cages, and 1 lone boy who still has all his parts) per day. Some of them aren't all that interested in interacting with me, but they recognize my scent, I learn their personalities, and we entertain each other.

** Sorry, each of the 4 mischiefs spend at least 30 minutes with me every day. So roughly 2 hours minimum per day with my little ones on the ottoman.

well i have 3 girls one cage, 4 boys in a cage and another 3 girls, and care for 2 girls of a friends. i do give them plenty of time each. but i just liked it when i just had one cage, of about 4-5 ratties.

liked one cage as i could get them all out for all my free time, and not have to split it between the cages

Yeah, I hear you on that one. It will be nice when we can integrate our 2 babies with the main mischief in the big cage.
